The Rabbit Hole

A Poem

Garrett H.
One trip,
One slip,
Forward, far down, and ahead,
A passage to whims and wispy dreams
Once only seen in your head

What chance,
Great chance,
To trail that unreachable ware,
The Waist Coat Rabbit, or a promise to keep,
And to tumble as fast as you dare

Just darkness,
Pure darkness,
Dotted with trinkets and shelves,
We each dive past, a thrill that revives
A free-fall back into ourselves

Falling free,
Escaping free,
To lands of beautiful craze,
Can't help to become lost and hurled about
Amidst dreamscapes from childhood days

Like Alice,
Sweet Alice,
Unknowing but oh so alive,
Forgetting our humdrum troubles and bores
Our innocent minds there will thrive

Curious,
How curious,
When grown logic contorts and lets go,
As careless we learn and remember what was
Through tunnels only young ones know

The plunge,
One plunge,
Into worlds our past will not shake,
A false footing into the grandeur of dreams
That each of us needs to take
