The Rage Against America

There are two subjects that send me into the unique emotional tale spin that anger inflicts: Racism and America.

It's been my experience that these two topics are incestuously interconnected and are the root of why much of the world is so vehemently anti-American.

I've written and re-written this article a thousand times because I have a love/hate affair with the United States, every encounter I've ever had with an America has been extreme. One of my dearest and oldest friends is American, born and raised in Boston and living in Seattle; during my travels I've had lunch, drinks and dates with fantastic Americans with hearts the size of Wisconsin and a joy for life that I love.

However, some of the most abhorrent racists I've ever encountered anywhere in the world have been Americans; these types of Americans are akin to rude, foul house guests who are invited to visit and end up breaking up the joint and peeing on the carpets. Even as visitors to my country of Canada, these lowlife American Crackers feel arrogant enough to spread their hatred and so entitled to their own opinions that they flaunt their racism like proud peacocks. They repulse me and I want them to leave my home, my country and never come back.

The most common form of American racism I encounter these days is in politics, foreign policy and war; there is a rage channelled towards anyone different and everyone ethnic. As traumatic as September 11th, 2001 was for all of us, it did not give Americans the right to hate with immunity or to kill with such vulgar glee under the lie and guise of defence of nation.

I hate to burst the false patriots bubble but it's not as if America was picking daisies one day and those evil Muslims just got it in their heads to kill for no reason; the uncomfortable truth is that American foreign policy in the Middle East is the impetus for 9/11. Decades of installing despotic dictators in Arab nations, intentionally overthrowing democratically elected leaders, stealing Arab lands and handing it over to European Jews, ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, Israeli slaughter in Lebanon with American blessing and cluster bombs and other weaponry, stoking and arming opposing religious factions to keep them divided and caught in cycle of retribution killing, creating a civil war in Palestine by arming Fatah to over throw Hamas and killing hundreds of civilians in the process; all the innocent are classified by the Americans as 'collateral damage'.

This kind of carnage tends to create hatred of America and the ignorance, racism and blatant arrogance of too many Americans tends to create rage and anger; of course this is precisely what the corrupt, criminal and evil United States government wants and needs to maintain its military and economic tyranny globally.
The American government and pro-Israeli lobby groups have been highly successful in demonizing and dehumanizing Arabs and Muslims to gain public support to continue killing them, stealing their natural resources and dominating over the entire region.

The rage for me and much of the rest of the world flares when so many Americans willingly and with complete disregard for human life and their own civic responsibility consume the lies and propaganda about the Middle East when the most infinitesimal effort would reveal that the American government is lying, again and again and again.

It's almost as if, you don't want to know.

I mean really; how many times do pro-Israeli groups have to call an Arab leader 'Hitler' before you wake up to their lies? How many times do these same groups have to invoke images of the Holocaust in an attempt to manipulate America to pay for more Israeli wars with your' blood and money before you stop believing them? How many times does your government have to change its story to justify its wars and murder and theft and imperialism before you take to the streets and demand your nation be returned from the criminals in office?

The pro-Israelis and the America government is fully aware of how racist its population is and it uses this blight to it's fully advantage to create hatred of Arabs or Muslims or Iranians or illegal immigrants or Mexicans. It's an age old strategy of deflection, hate 'them' and while you're distracted we'll do whatever we want and the very real problems here in the US of A, don't get solved and we all get to blame the foreigners. It's called scape goating and governments have been doing it for eons; it's inexcusable that the wealthiest population on earth with the most access to unfettered information and technology is still falling for the oldest tricks in the book.

While you're busy hating Arabs and Muslims your' leaders are going yachting with them; does that not seem duplicitous to you?

This wilful ignorance and intentional laziness repulses and angers me as it does much of the world; evil perpetuates when good people do nothing. It's unforgivable when a nation with tens of millions of good people knowingly stick their head in the sand, utter vile and despicable racism towards others and support the mass murder of innocent Palestinians,Lebanese, Afghans, Iraqis and soon Iranians.

There is a disturbing wave of hyper patriotism among racists in America; as if to hate and kill those you've made no effort to understand is the highest form of commitment to nation. Simply because other peoples and countries look different or have a different religion or refuse the consumerist model, this does not give you the right or justification to invade, kill or hate them.

America, you are not the good guys and you're as innocent as a ten dollar whore.

Yeah well I'll admit, I didn't read a lot of your material or your conversations. Classic mistake, I guess. Maybe it was the hate mongering that turned me off. Blah. Alright, you win. I'm boring. America's lame. Arguing on the internet with strangers is even lamer. But seriously...."Masterpo:You illiterate, moron I'm Canadian. If you had read the article you would have gathered that little tid bit of information. There are some real crackpots on this site but, I have to tell you that a black man bending over for white crackers takes the cake. You're dumber than a doornail." A Black Man? White crackers? Who's the racist here? Why am I a cracker? If you can say cracker and take yourself seriously, I can say Tool with confidence that I'm not speaking so very generically in comparison. I don't know. It doesn't matter.

I smoke too much pot? What a stupid, generic thing to say, honestly. Also, there's humor everywhere. Especially in politics and government. The only reason racism still prevails is that we haven't learned to laugh with each other about our differences. Simple as that. Of course there is racism in America. There's racism everywhere, you tool. And yeah, our officials are sometimes tactless and even sinister characters. But that's not all of us. It's not even most of us. It's funny, not so long ago people were risking their lives to get in to the country. Not so long ago, we weren't even a country. I mean, really we're still an infant nation. And look how far we've come? There are some things that we should have the right to be proud of. People like you always want to take that away. But whatever I mean you know best, I'm sure. I'm just an ignorant hick-hippie from the bad place. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a ton of pot to smoke.

"Lowlife American Crackers" pfff lol. Someone's a smug one. Wow yeah man you really have it figured out. No humor, just hate. That's what I call tolerance and progress.

I apologize for my longwinded response. Thank you for this opportunity: RJT, your article is well written. However, you are very myoptic.
The United States has a segment of the population that is racist. "America", remember, includes Mexico and Canada, as well as South America, I suppose.

Have you ever left home and been out in the world? The world is TRIBAL. I have been personally to countries of the world where I am in the extreme minority, and sometimes have been treated badly because of my skin color. If you want to meet absurd racists, you will meet them anywhere. Even, yes, Canada.
I would suggest those who kill with "vulgar glee" are those who blow up innocent women and children. And send even pregnant woman to be human bombs. Please don't counter with the use of American bombs. We have lost thousands of soldiers who have been blown up on the roads and in searching house to house for insurgents. Remember "Carpet Bombing" from Vietnam and WWII? Maybe not. I don't know how old you are.

  • Richard Davis3/31/2008

The platitudes you disgorge are those of one who seem to be an anti semite, and blame the Jews for the world's ill. It is enlightened to be so now a days. I will assume that you are not, but will believe what is spoon fed to you by the media, both large and small.
You cannot know of what you speak, unless you have been to the Middle East, and see that the exploitation of the Arabs and Muslims comes from their own kind. Did you know that Muslims and Arabas are citizens if Israel and can vote in their elections, and can go to Mosque? Show me the same freedoms in Muslim Arab and Middle Eastern countries.

  • Richard Davis3/31/2008

How many times do we have to call an Arab (and I guess you mean Middle Eastern) leaders "Hitler"? Well, until the world listens. Nobody paid Winston Churchill any attention in the 1920's, when he warned against a thug named Adolph.
If you believe racism is the sole denison of the US, then please step over to an Arab country, or to some Asian countries, perhaps. If you believe smugness might be the flaw of a country, you might pick Canada. I pray you are not the vicim of a nuclear explosion by an exploited class of people, who think you should be bowing to Mecca five times per day, who are backed by the Chinese dragon that once again wants world domination.

You are ignorant and have no idea what you're talking about. You have taken a half truth and a horrific event in American history and used it to have a pity party. The victims of 9/11 were not politicians or military men, they were men and women going to work. You try and imagine thousands of people being killed because they went to work on a day that a bunch of Islamic extremists decided to go Kamikaze. You are a fool.

I'm not Canadian. I'm American. I was just wondering if you wouldn't mind if I defect to Canada? I am in complete agreement with everything you've said. My question is if America wants to play world police who is to police them? Especially considering the war mongering Bush has completely ignored the UN and the world's disapproval of these criminal actions. I am in one of those pickles where I support the troops...but not the war. Which seems to be a contradiction... I was in the US Navy and still have many friends and family serving, I want them brought home safely, not in body bags. I don't agree with the Bush administration and I hate that my friends and family are fighting this war. Bush isn't Hitler, but he's turning America into a Nazi Regime.
