The Rahm Emanuel, Bill Clinton Flap in the Chicago Mayoral Race

Snidely Whiplash
Have reader's heard of the Rahm Emanuel/Bill Clinton flap in the Chicago mayoral race? Bubba offered to go and campaign for Emanuel, ya know, doing the good Democrat thing and supporting a fellow corrupt liberal. Thick as thieves and all that....

Seems when Bubba offered his support to Rahm Emanuel he ruffled some feathers of them there proverbial "birds of a feather." As Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun Times offered "Chicago mayoral hopeful Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.) shot a warning on Tuesday morning to former President Bill Clinton, coming to Chicago to stump for rival Rahm Emanuel: Stay out." Wow! That doesn't sound all too inclusive to me.

In what is NOT being called playing the race card Davis enlightened Bubba "that if Clinton did campaign for Emanuel, it would "fracture" and perhaps break his warm relationship with the African American community if he came "to town and participate overtly in efforts to thwart the legitimate political aspirations of Chicago's Black community." Clearly that's NOT a threat, right?

First, how does Clinton supporting a fellow Democrat interfere with the "Legitimate political aspirations of Chicago's Black Community?" So when a black stands for election they must win? Is that it? Basically that argument indicates in every majority black political jurisdiction if a black person runs white people must walk away. What an arrogant sense of entitlement Davis is displaying. I guess that logic then implies in a majority white jurisdiction a white person MUST win the election, right? Tit for tat? No? So it's pure hypocrisy then? Par for the Democrat course!

Furthermore, in truth I am not sure Clinton has done anything wrong here. Emanuel is an old follower of Clinton so this is Bill showing loyalty, and that is to be commended in my opinion. So what to make of the potential schism in the Democrat ranks? Sounds like the politics of race to me. How is this anything other than a minority candidate making a political threat, based entirely upon his minority status? So even in the electoral process black candidates must be treated in a special manner?

I think this is dirty and underhanded on the part of Davis. It's a display of weakness. It's Davis' petulance threatening to take his toys and his friends if he can't have his way. It also implies a special position for the black community should Davis get elected. Is that what Democrat's have become? As a conservative, nice for me, for such efforts only divide and dilute their power.

However this plays out in the days leading up to the primary in the Chicago Mayoral race, know this...it is Democrats turning on each other. This is not normal internal primary politics. This is thinly veiled threats delivered along the lines of racial fracture if Bubba supports an old crony of his. And typically among these noble lefties, the threat of race is the last word. What a shame a once noble political party has eroded into what they have...a series of special interests and identity politics driving policy and action. And the left claims exclusive hold upon the "unity" card? Not even close!

I love it when my political opposition are so unified the first chance they get they begin tossing each other into the boiling kettle, looking around for the paprika...ya know, to spice up the flavor as they eat each other. Cannibalism so rocks!

What Lorraine said. Whip, you are indeed honing your commentaries into a razor sharp edge. Keep 'em coming, friend.

They're getting desperate. Let them tear each other apart. They're in trouble and they know it. BTW, your political writing gets better and better. Consider a radio spot or TV. We listen to others way less articulate and knowledgable than you there. Speak into the mike, Whippy!

I feel ya Don but you're characterization of "sky faeries" is inaccurate. I too am agnostic but a staunch conservative Sir. It is the progressive BS that says all conservatives are religious zealots. As well it is a misnomer that Republican's actually care who humps who. I do agree with your characterization "These quasi-libs are nothing more than communists and Klansmen/Liberation Theocratists/La Raza members in disguise," but I would not so label all Democrats. Democrats are not necessarily hateful progressives, but for the most part, progressives vote Democrat. But conservatives do resist the term "gay marriage" and for that we are called all manner of hateful thing. Notice it['s the TERM we hate, not the equal protections under the law. Thanks for reading Don. Happy New Year Bro.

I can't think of one thing to add to this. But I do want to say, I'm a true liberal, meaning I love individual liberty, raging against the machine, and my sex life/lifestyle/religion or lack thereof is not gubbermint's business. These quasi-libs are nothing more than communists and Klansmen/Liberation Theocratists/La Raza members in disguise. (Yes. I just called 99.9976% of the democrat party racists. So what? They can eat me, but I'll give 'em gas.) So, please understand, Lots of liberals don't like any of these SOB's anymore than we like Republicans and their mythical sky fairy.
