Getting Back to Basics in Eating

Jesse Mathewson
It was midsummer 2008 when my little sister told me that she had converted to raw foods; at first, I chuckled and than quite seriously asked her what that was. She explained that it was merely a different approach to eating. It is simple to explain, think fruits, raw vegetables, and the like. There are literally thousands of recipes for the raw foodist and many intelligent blogs as well. I hope to present a rounded overview of a few of these blogs and websites for you "the consumer" to understand this healthy life approach better.

The following site was setup by a raw food "coach" who lives a very raw vegan dietary existence. Is a simply put together yet comprehensive site that outlines what raw food eating entails as well as the healthy benefits to doing so, She has dozens of freely available raw food recipes available as well.

Second, we have a basic blogspot blog that has lists of many available raw food websites and blogs. There are also encouraging articles and some basic advertisements for raw food and vegan eating. A simple click here will help you get started out on the raw food pathway to health.

Next, we see a blog all about the raw "goodness" and eating healthy as a result. This site has podcasts and many available recipes as well as some short lists to other great sites for raw food eaters. The writers of this blog have done a very friendly easy to use set up and from what I can tell really enjoy their choice of lifestyles.

Organic grown food is essential to the raw foodist and this blog follows many east coast based farmers style markets. The author has written about his lifestyle as well. This site is a well-put together site with news and other raw food issues pulling for front page. I recommend checking this site out for sure. Small daily blogs of meals and what each consisted of can assist the beginning raw food lover with their change.

Natural Raw is another great site that shows many people different very tasty supplements and goodies to eat. This is a great site to check out simply because it is basic and easy to follow. Obviously, everyone may have a different take on it as a lifestyle; however, this is a legitimate way to encourage a good lifestyle though exercise is still important.

Awesome to be Rawsome is another fun site to go to; this one is an individual's account of her life as a raw foodist. Moreover, how she approaches every day issues. The important thing here is that she really believes in this lifestyle and posts almost daily the different challenges and advances her makes.

Another all-encompassing site for raw food eaters is Living and Raw Food. This site has listings for raw food festivals worldwide as well as classifieds and even personals. A very comprehensive site for the raw foodist and the lifestyle they have chosen.

Lastly my sister pointed me to a really great site that allows raw foodist from around the world to contribute their knowledge to others of like mind, Raw Food Talk. This site has recipes, medicinal hints and even a forum for all of its members. It is a great individualistic site meant for the discerning raw foodist.

So while I intend to still enjoy the occasional steak, or salmon fillet this lifestyle has many benefits to the average American eater as well as some very good healthy benefits to those who may be suffering from one of the many food related ailments. It sounds funky but in reality is just another way to clean up your body and get back to the basics!
