The Real Deal

Debt reduction and savings are the same thing. America holds way too much debt both publicly and privately. Our president seems convinced that he can spend his way out of a recession. We are spending less but our personal debt still amounts to trillions. Even the most brilliant economists can not see beyond the false promise of a consumer based economy. We can never spend our way to fiscal health because that entails an unsustainable acquisition of debt.

Are we wrong headed? Yes we are. Rather than stimulus we need restraint. Mortgages and personal finances should be restructured at the same time. Debt should be freed of usury and be leveled at a steady rate of repayment. Banks should return to the business of acquiring capital at a attractive rate of return and lending with circumspection at a reasonable profit. No one has thought through the problem of what we want the economy to be. Both Geithner and Obama seem to favor the old banking system and a quick return to a boom and bust model of wealth management.

I am not a communist or socialist and I love the idea of the invisible hand of capitalism but systemic greed and the perversion of wealth has lead the ideal system askew. We must allow ourselves to be productive. Automobiles should be good, proud, safe treasures, clothing warm, practical and fashionable, housing safe and efficient and employment a rewarding haven from confusion.

Corporate America has spent untold billions in order to maintain the status quo. Fully realizing that they were only serving the immediate bottom line; all the CEO's, CFO's and their minions made millions finagling a false promise. Who are these spoiled cretins and why do we let them dictate our lives?

Wealth must be reissued. It's not the infrastructure but the very fiber of American that needs be rewoven. Barak has the right vision but lacks the courage to speak the whole truth. He is not spineless but does pander to the powers that be. The solution is so radical that it would alienate almost all the population. Barry is such a smart man I see him leading us on a circuitous path to a truly new world. I pray.

Even now millions live in the bosom of the American dream and come home to an inviting, loving environment. Others live in doubt and worry, depressed and scandalized for living poor and forgotten in the richest country. This cannot be, everyone of good intent must proper. All things must be made possible, achievable.
