The Real Hustle and Flow

"Hustle and Flow"

But I can probably put the words into my own context

And grasp the true meaning

Every day I hustle

To get hours at my job

I make the phone calls

And I do the rounds

Informing people of my availability

Of my desire to work

To keep my schedule full

It doesn't matter what shift

I have to make the paychecks come

And keep a steady cash flow

I give up sleep

I give up any time I may have to myself

I should get paid for just trying to find some hours at my job

I have to hustle to even stay afloat

Days turn into nights

And then into weeks

A month goes by

Did I work enough?

No, never enough

But the bills might get paid

Young bucks on the street be talkin' about making that "cheese"

I would be happy with a carton of milk

To put on the table at the end of the day

Have to push the limits

Have to do all I can

Have to work at all costs

Have to keep my daughter fed

Have to keep the power on

Doing everything I can

Have to hustle for those hours

So that I can make the paychecks come

And make the cash flow
