The Real Way to Diet

Dieting Tips (What to Do and What Not to Do)

inheritance
For many years now, people have become more and more conscientious about their appearance. In particular, weight has posed a major roadblock in their quests for beauty. Many have tried to diet but to no avail. Here are some tips to dieting and weight loss that everyone should know about.

First off, the easiest way to lose weight is for you to set a goal, and work towards it consistently. Pre-set diets, like the Atkins Diet, the Slim Fast Diet, and many others simply do not work. They either focus too much on one nutritional group (i.e. carbohydrates) or they cut them out all together. At first, some diets may seem to work. However, either the weight you lost has been water weight and you are simply dehydrating your body, or you have simply cut too much from your normal diet too quickly. When people cut out too many calories too quickly, they start to lose weight, fast. Their bodies are not used to and thus enter a sort of "survival mode". When this happens, your brain releases signals that trigger you to want to eat and to eat a lot. Before you know it, any weight you previously lost is back, or you may even have gained weight in the process.

Some important things about dieting that everyone should follow are simply (and I'm sure you've head them many times before): exercise and proper diet. They are quite obvious, yet so many people seem to have trouble with them. Your diet must be balanced. Focusing or cutting nutritional groups from your body is a harmful practice. Not only should it be balanced, but it should also fit accordingly with your exercise amount. If you are increasing your physical activity, you would want to increase your daily caloric intake to help compensate for the extra energy your body burns. Micheal Phelps eats somewhere in the range of 12,000 calories per day because of his intense training for the Olympics. Also, exercise is important. You may notice your weight increase somewhat if you start exercising, but that is caused by an increase in muscle mass. Remember, there are around 3,500 calories in 1 pound of fat. If you can fit your schedule so that you cut somewhere around 500 calories a day (which is not too much for many people trying to diet), you can easily lose somewhere around a pound each week!

Exercise and proper diet are the key ingredients for a healthy person. Pre-set diets do not work and are many times harmful to your overall health in one way or another. Also, persistence is key to any long term goal. Set short term goals along the way to help motivate you. Before you know it, you'll be on the path to a brand new lifestyle!
