The Real World Denver Is Terrible Along With Every Other Season Since Boston
My Favorite TV Show Gone Terribly Bad
The last season I remember genuinely enjoying was the Boston season, and to this day it is my favorite season. The mixture of ages, races, sexual orientations, and geographical backgrounds I enjoyed watching the cast work through one issue after another. The most recent season, Real World Denver, was more than a let down, although Vegas definitely takes home the prize for worst season ever. I keep watching each season, hoping that MTV will have cast people who will return the show to its original glory, but I always end up disappointed.
This last season took place in Denver Colorado and featured a cast of four males and three females. Each cast member had their own unique and utterly annoying qualities. There was Colie, a young, typically pretty girl who enjoys drunken hookups and the occasional fight over nothing. Then there was Jen, a girl with a boyfriend who wouldn't let that stop her from flirting and hooking up with every Ambercrombie type male with a functioning penis. The final female cast member was Brooke, who in the beginning was the biggest disappointment with her psychotic rants with my favorite being the one she has after not being able to locate a nail salon, by the end of the season Brooke became the least annoying much to my surprise, as she managed to control her outrageous temper. Then there was the males in the house. Davis, the gay male who wishes he were straight. Davis not only wishes that he were straight, he sought to make his wish come true by constantly propositioning Brooke for sex throughout the first half of the season. And of course, in true MTV fashion, they had to place a Bible thumping black male in the house to increase the tention and who better for the job than Stephen. Not only was Stephen there to declare his objections and disgust with Davis' life style, he was also there to show his utter self-centered ways, these were made particularly obvious when Stephen had to leave his job working with hurricane Katrina teens to attend his sister wedding about which he declared that he was excited to go home and spend time with people he actually cared about. Alex, the straight white player male was simply another version of what has been seen so many times before. He contemplates a relationship with Colie, hooksup with Colie and Jen, and always find it necessary to voice his opinion in a rather assinine way. And to round out the cast there was Ty, a strong minded, well built, black male. While he was the least annoying of the cast he did manage to get arrested like so many cast mates before him while getting in an altercation with his girlfriend.
Where do they find these people?
Please MTV, bring back the older, more socially conscience casts of the good ole days!

Post a CommentI agree with much of this but, still watch. Not as often. I wish they would show more about the real people/cast and less about their sexcapades. A few Denver shows were really funny. Some were a bit sickening. Great article!
