The Reason Why the US Flag Still Waves: A Veterans Day Poem

A Tribute to Those Who Fought

Bridgitte Williams

They are our fathers, sons, uncles and aunts.

Grandparents, daughters, sisters, moms and friends.

They fought wars.

Just so we could all live.

In one nation, under God.

Together, strong, united by belief.

Brilliant bravery and strength.

All with one common goal, to be free.

We live and breathe freely.

Every single blessed day.

All because of these fine Americans.

They love and serve proudly, while their country, they save.

So, lets celebrate Veterans day.

On November 11, 2011, don't you forget.

This special day is great.

Give your love and support, hug a vet!

Wave flags and celebrate.

We won't ever forget what you gave.

Blood, tears and so much courage.

Veterans are the reason why the US flag still waves.

This poem is in celebration and tribute of Veteran's day. A special dedication to my father, retired Air Force Lt. Col. Kenneth L. Williams, who survived and fought in many wars. I love you and honor you here, dad. God bless the USA. Veterans are the reason why the US flag still waves.
