Weight Loss Tips to Help Lose the Weight

Being a mom is not an easy job. Many times along with the job of being a mom, comes some weight gain over the years. Many moms complain that they have gained weight over the years and they don't even know how. What many moms may be surprised to learn is that not knowing how they gained the weight is the problem. Many times it's the unconscious behaviors and issues that moms deal with that make them gain weight.

All hope is not lost for moms though. There are plenty of simple ways that moms can easily lose weight that they have gained. The first thing that you need to figure out if you are a mom who has gained weight, is why you gained the weight. There is no way that you can lose weight until you know why you gained weight. This may not be fun to do, but you have to analyze your habits. Once you do that, you are more conscious of what you are doing to gain weight and you can fix those problems and lose weight.

Many moms have weight loss issues in common. There are some common reasons why all moms will gain weight, so there should be some common ways for moms to lose weight. Here are some basic weight loss tips that most moms will find handy.

The number one reason why many moms seem to gain weight is because they never put themselves first. The children, their husband, the house, their job and everything else comes before they do. Every once in awhile a mom has to put herself first. This means that maybe you have to drop off small kids at the local gym daycare while you exercise for half an hour. Or maybe, you let your husband watch the children 2 nights a week so you can go take an exercise class at the gym or just find a quiet place in the house to exercise. Moms should not feel selfish for doing this, as they are making themselves healthier, which in return makes them a better mom who will be healthy for their children for years to come.

Just because your child doesn't finish his meal, doesn't mean that you have to finish it for him. All those extra spoonfuls of macaroni and cheese and French fries will add up to quite a few calories. It may be hard for you to throw away food that your child does not eat, but would you rather have it in the garbage or on your thighs?

Many times moms have the tendency to make meals for their children and not for themselves. Have you ever let your child go without lunch? Most likely not. But, how many times have you gone without eating lunch. Skipping meals will hinder weight loss and can actually make you gain weight. If you skip a meal not only are you slowing down your metabolism but you are also making yourself go into starvation mode. This means, when the children go to sleep at night, you then realize how hungry you are and you break out the ice cream, when you could have had a healthy meal instead.

Another way that moms can lose weight is to play with their children. Many moms don't take the time out of their busy day to actually be physical and play with their children. If your children are outside playing tag, go join them. Don't sit from the sidelines and just watch them. Any type of physical activity can help you lose weight and keep it off. So, take a bike ride with your children and even just simple things like throwing a ball or Frisbee back and forth with them.

Moms may not realize this, but getting enough sleep can definitely help weight loss efforts. If you are not getting enough sleep at night, it can actually make you gain weight. Just like your children, you need to get plenty of sleep at night, so your body refuels and has energy to burn fat the next day.

Stop buying the junk food for your children if you can't resist it. Children don't need to have junk food in the house. In fact, children shouldn't be eating junk food and the best way for a mom not to eat the junk food is to just not buy it. If your children complain, then let them complain, sooner or later they will get over it and in the process you are making them healthier.

Tip to lose weight as a mom: Buy a two story house. Have four kids in seven years. Adults downstairs, kids upstairs. Run up and down 25 time per day, more on a "good" day to clean up messes, fetch things, stop fights, scare away monsters under beds, tuck in and retuck in, and search for items that have mysteriously transported themselves from downstairs to a pillowcase under a bed upstairs. You know - the usual things, like oh, say, the attachments to your mixer, or perhaps your driver's license, or even say, a lamp. No time to eat, no time to gain weight, no time for your body to bother to retain energy -- it burns it so fast going up and down stairs. Hee hee. My whining today is a bit out of hand. But I did find all those things upstairs under my four year old's bed. Good story.
