What may prompt some married women to have affairs? The following could be reasons for these affairs:
1. They wanted to take revenge for the infidelity of their husbands.
This is usually the most common reason why women become unfaithful. When their husbands betray their vows of marriage, they feel extreme pain and sorrow. There is a strong urge for revenge. They want to get back at their spouses in the hope of hurting them as they have been hurt. But of course this would not be the case.
The women succumbing to infidelity will cause a wider rift between relationships and most often, an irreparable damage results to divorce.
2. They find that the partnership is no longer present in their married life.
Marriage is a partnership. Both spouses should talk when decisions are to be made, especially major decisions. When a woman is left out and feels she no longer matters to the relationship, she will seek that sense of importance someplace else. She becomes vulnerable to temptations from the opposite gender.
Asking the opinion of a partner demonstrates respect for the other. When respect is gone, nothing is left in a relationship.
3. They feel neglected and unnoticed.
Although they are consulted with decisions to be made, oftentimes they are never given ample attention. Husbands do not notice anymore the things their wives do.
The women's faults are emphasized, instead of the positive traits.
4. Romance no longer exists in the marriage.
There are no longer sweet, precious moments to cuddle and make love. Most women are naturally romantic at heart. They do not want only physical closeness but also spiritual and mental proximity. Most women want romance and not sex alone.
When men neglect this aspect of their marriages, then women are vulnerable to temptations. They may not have plans beforehand but it could happen accidentally with other men. They, at first, just wanted a sympathetic ear but before they know it, the relationship has turned into a full blown affair because of their vulnerability.
5. They fell in love.
This is common in marriages where true love does not exist between wives and husbands. When a woman finally meets her true love, even after marriage, she would resort to unfaithfulness to be with her loved one.
6. Physical abuse.
Most often women turn to other men for protection when their husbands are physically and verbally abusive. This will usually lead to infidelity because women find their protectors their heroes and before they know it, they have turned as their lovers as well.
These are some of the reasons why married women have affairs. We should not render judgment as it is a case to case basis wherein individuals do certain things for particular reasons which we are not aware of.
Married women; however, must remember that marriage is meant to last forever; and that marriage vows - "To love and to cherish, till death do us part" - should be considered sacred and a lasting bond for husbands and wives. Love should be nurtured like a plant for marriages to last; a little rain, some sunshine and lots of tender care would most certainly prevent married women from having affairs.
