The Reasons I Write for Associated Content by Yahoo!

Donna Kay
There are many reasons why I continue to write for Associated Content by Yahoo! Since 2006, I've slowly but steadily produced content for this site, long before it was part of Yahoo! I have watched as the company has steadily grown and changed, in much the same way that I have since my first contributions.

When I first began writing for AC, the pay structure was much different and there wasn't performance pay for page views as there is today. The money I made in the first years was usually more than I make with AC now. But it feels comforting to know the performance pay is coming every month to my Paypal account. AC is timely with pay and has never let me down since 2006. Still, there are other reasons I stay with Associated Content by Yahoo!

There is a sense of loyalty that I feel for Associated Content that I can't shake no matter how many other sites I write for. AC is like a dear old friend that was always there for me when I needed them. My husband and I both still remember the many times that the extra money I earned stretched the budget just enough to help make ends meet for us between his pay days. How can I forget the company that helped our family so much during lean times?

Another reason I still write for AC is the freedom they allow writers. I do write for several other content sites and admittedly get frustrated with those sites, although the pay is sometimes better than what I'm making at AC. I get very tempted to forget the other sites and return my full attention to writing here once again. The pay would surely balance out if given enough time and effort. After all, I could never write this type of article for the other sites.

The writers at Associated Content by Yahoo! is another one of the reasons I love AC. I have learned so much from reading the works of fellow writers here and many of the familiar faces feel like dear old friends. I've witnessed their growth over the years as well and they inspire me, although they probably don't even know it. I should tell them. I watch as some of the most prolific writers at AC produce such a phenomenal amount of content, I often wonder how they do it. It's hard to not be inspired by many of the writers at AC.

It's still sometimes hard for me to remember to put the "Yahoo!" at the end of AC. Maybe I'll get in the habit eventually. You know the saying, "old habits die hard." I know the name but it's still just AC for me. Don't get me wrong. I'm glad for the growth and expansion. It's usually how good companies become great companies. But since AC is a dear old friend, it feels as if I'm keeping it on a first name basis this way, of course with the exception of formalities and legalities which dictate otherwise. Then of course, I will call it Associated Content by Yahoo! But for now, it's a casual conversation about an old friend. I'm still here and thankfully, so is AC.

No, seriously - thank you, AC.

AC is good for all of us writers, no matter what we call it.
