If you want to eat some really good seafood during your next visit to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, you should check out the Red Eye Grill in Biloxi. This restaurant is located right off Interstate 10 in Biloxi, and I've been telling all my friends that they have the best fried shrimp on the coast.

The head chef at the Red Eye Grill is Victor Pickich, who studied under well-known chef and TV personality Emeril Lagasse. Many of the dishes here have that distinctive New Orleans spicy Creole style flavor, but it's not all fried foods. They offer a variety of grilled and baked items, from steak to seafood. On average, the prices range from $8-15 per dish, with some specialty items costing upwards of $20, but the portions are very big.

For an appetizer, I can't say enough about their smoked tuna dip. For just eight bucks, they give you a big mound of smoked tuna mixed with some kind of sauce and onions, then provide you with toasted garlic bread to spread the tuna on. There's always way more tuna than bread, and it is a meal in itself. In fact, you get so much that it's almost too much for two people. I've also tried their gumbo, but my wife and I order the smoked tuna dip every time.

When I order my entree, I usually get either the seafood platter or a po-boy. I like to get the combo platter with redfish and shrimp, plus it comes with seasoned fries and hush puppies. For an extra dollar, I like my redfish blackened instead of fried. The shrimp are always huge and coated in a very flavorful, but not too thick, breading that makes them awesome with or without any kind of dipping sauce. If a sandwich is more your style, their shrimp po-boy is quite good, but the grilled steak sandwich is a real treat.

In addition to the restaurant, which has a good size seating area, the Red Eye Grill also has a huge bar area. The place is decorated with colorful aquatic art and HDTV's playing various sports. It is never too loud in there, and the service is always very good, so it makes for a great place to hang out a while after you eat. They do offer desserts, but I have never had enough room left to try one.
