This hotel is on the smaller side with only 65 rooms. This makes it feel very homey and gives the staff the opportunity to get to know the guests and treat them with great service. Many of the staff members seem to have been there forever, as I talked to three who have been there for at least 10 years and consider it a good place to work.
The guest rooms are on the pricy side since this is such an upscale hotel. The cheapest rooms go for about $600 a night. A feature I really like is that all of the guest rooms have an ocean view so it is not possible for you to get stuck in a bad room. There are also cottages on-site with one to four bedrooms in each. They are a short distance from the main hotel which allows the guests staying in them to have extra privacy. Each one has a private patio with an outdoor hot tub on it.
The Reefs has all of the facilities that you would expect from this type of hotel. There are secluded beaches that are quite empty most of the time. Lounge chairs and umbrellas are always set up for use on the beach. There are three restaurants and two bars. La Serena Spa offers all kinds of spa services and has excellent service, while overlooking the ocean. The spa was fully booked while we were there, so make sure you make reservations well in advance if you are interested. There is a fully stocked fitness center and two tennis courts.
The restaurants on-site all have excellent food. Ocean Echo is a romantic dinner restaurant that offers seafood, pasta, and a daily fresh Bermudian delicacy. Coconuts is very close to the ocean so it is a great place to eat dinner while watching the sunset. While all of the restaurants are very nice, I wish they had a more casual option so you did not need to go to a fine dining meal each night.
The Reefs is a good hotel for couples, but is not very family friendly. My kids were not impressed by the food and wished that there were more activities to do. However, my husband and I would have no problem spending a relaxing vacation there.
