The Registration Process at Donnelly College in Kansas City, Kansas

Ahhhh, the college life, Frat parties, dorm rooms, and all niters. The things college is made of right? Well that all depends on where you go to college and what stage of life you're in when you go to college.

Most go right out of high school, but more and more are going back later in life, after they get life experience and see the world. And that's where I'm at. Because I want to start a business I need a degree and a lot of knowledge.

To do that, I had to think about what my interests and hobbies were and what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. After all, my ideas of what I wanted to be when I grew up changed as I got older. And so did my reason for going back to school. After narrowing down what type of business I wanted to start, which is an administrative support consultant, my search began for the perfect college.

After some intense searching for different schools that taught what I wanted to learn and some persuasion from a girlfriend, I decided to go to the college she is currently attending. That college is Donnelly College in Kansas City, Kansas found here - http://www.donnelly.edu/ After all they taught what I wanted to learn and was close to where I lived.

Once that had been figured out the next step was talking with an advisor to get the ball rolling. I had transcripts from a previous college so I took those when I met with her and we began figuring out what classes, if any, I could apply here so I wouldn't have to retake them again. After checking to make sure the school I went to was accredited and they could accept the transcript, the advisor began figuring out what classes could be credited for others. And soon we began looking at what was offered in the field I was now going into.

Now with classes selected and the enrollment started I went to get my school email so I could check grades and get any correspondence that the teachers or others had for me. Finally back to financial aide and business office to finish the process of enrolling.
All that is next is getting the books and wait for classes to begin.

As much as going back to school is exciting it is also time consuming and overwhelming but there is one last step to figure out and that is to figure out the best way you study and where you can study. If you have kids the best time may be at night after they are asleep or during the day while they are at school. It depends on when your classes are and if you work outside the home, to acquire a pay check.

Finally you leave the building with all the paperwork in your hand, you wonder what now? Well if you're old enough to drink like me, you head to the nearest watering hole and order a tall cool drink. After a drink or two, you utter "what have I done?" I'm joking of course- in my opinion college is for those who are ready to take a hold of their future and achieve something new and exciting.

Over all, I m looking forward to this new voyage and chapter in my life. And I have surrounded myself with those who are as eager as I am to support and cheer me on when times get rough.

By the way the place my friend and I volunteer at is" The Keeler Women's Center" found here http://www.mountosb.org/kwc/index.html
