The Remade Man Wants to Remake Your Relationship

New Web Site Seeks Women's Stories

If you are a woman who wants to complain about your relationship, get feedback from others about your boyfriend, or just read stories that make you feel good about your significant other, take a trip over to The Remade Man.

A group of psychology students and their professor at Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) has gotten a small grant to run a blog where women can post their stories about relationships gone wrong or just complain about their boyfriend or husband. Anything from minor forgetfulness to cheating can be submitted, although not every story will be posted.

Professor Richard Kolotkin, a clinical psychologist and professor with 30 years' experience, heads the project. It is a continuation of a two-year-long project that has focused on the stories of women attending MSUM. Through the web site, The Remade Man hopes to hear from a wider variety of women.

The idea is not to change men but for women to give each other ideas on how to improve their relationship based on specific incidents or on-going problems. The students at MSUM want to expand their research to include the responses and stories of women from broader age groups and geographic areas.

All posts on the blog are anonymous. They are vetted for appropriate content and the preservation of privacy as well. Once the post is published, The Remade Man e-mails everyone signed up with the site and invites comments on the situation. The intent is that women can give each other feedback on what is and is not acceptable behavior in a relationship. Posters also to give each other ideas on how to "remake" the man in question and discuss those thoughts.

The Remade Man site is free, but you have to be at least 18 to sign up and there is a consent arrangement to which you must agree. That agreement explains the purpose of the site and the aims of the project.

Once you're signed up, you can read and comment on the stories published or submit your own. There are also links to other relationship resources and mental health professionals. This includes a spot to order Kolotkin's book, The Insightful Marriage, of course.

Kolotkin has chosen to collect women's stories first because the group felt that women would be more willing to share their stories as well as to comment on those of others. What if you're a man who wants to complain about his relationship? Be patient. The Remade Woman is in the works.
