The Renaissance Man - Ice Cube

Richard Banks
Musicians turned actors and vice versa are more and more common in Hollywood. Think of Will Smith playing in I am Legend, The Pursuit of Happyness, and the Men in Black Movies. Now think of him as a budding rapper in the late '80's. He made an easy transition. The same can't be said for others. Do the names Billy Bob Thornton, Joe Pesci, and Scarlett Johansson ring a bell? These particular actors are great at their craft, but when they cross over, there have been mixed reviews.

O'Shea Jackson is a different story. He started a movement in his musical career and transitioned as if he just released another album. Mr. Jackson, you see, is the rapper/actor/producer/screenwriter/director also known as Ice Cube. With over 15 albums as well as roles in over 25 films, Ice Cube has a definite presence within the film and music industry. I will list the top ten movies starring Ice Cube.

Boyz n the Hood

Higher Learning

Friday

Three Kings

Barbershop

Are We There Yet?

The LongShots

The Glass Shield

Are We Done Yet?

Lottery Ticket

When you look at an artist and their dedication to their craft, there are a few artists who stand out from the rest of the pack. Ice Cube is now on tap to be a major player in the multi format model of business. He no longer has to rely on the viability of one genre, but simply move to another. With a career spanning over 25 years, Ice Cube has left a credible footprint on the world of entertainment.

The list may not have generated hundreds of millions of dollars, but solidified Ice Cub's spot in the film industry. On tap are a few movies in 2011 such as Friday 4 and Rampart. There will be no stopping him.
