When a woman becomes pregnant, there are many responsibilities that must taken into account. She is carrying another life and must be careful of what she puts in her body as well her own surroundings. It is up to that woman to care for herself as well as her unborn baby to ensure a good delivery including a healthy child.

When a woman becomes aware that she is pregnant, prenatal care should start. A doctor must be seen every single month. During her 8th and 9th month, doctor visits should happen every week. A pregnant woman must ask her doctor before taking any medicine because it could harm the baby. During a pregnancy a woman should have a blood test along with a urine test during the first quarter to make sure there are no infections. A pregnant woman's weight should also be checked as well as the blood pressure. If she does not feel well while urinating, her doctor should be aware of this because it could be a urinary infection.

A pregnant woman should start to take prenatal vitamins that includes folic acid with of course a prescription from a doctor. A well balanced meal should be consumed such as whole grain breads, cereals, fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and milk. 6 to 8 glasses of water should be taken every day. During a pregnancy, a woman must limit intakes of drinks that contain caffeine such as coffee, colas or tea. Junk foods should be avoided. .

During a pregnancy, a woman should stay away from being in a room with people smoking. She should also steer clear of things like pesticides, aerosol sprays or paints. Anyone who is pregnant must avoid x-rays and any drinks that contain alcohol.

Comfortable clothes are a must during a pregnancy. This is due to the fact that a woman's size is constantly changing. When a pregnant woman is riding in a car, she should wear the seat belt on her hips.

Light exercises should be done while during a pregnancy such as biking, swimming or walking for 15 minutes every day. During the 4th month of a pregnancy, a woman should lie down and put her feet up 30 minutes every day. The next month would be good to start doing pelvic rock and Kegel exercises. It is also during this time that a pregnant woman will have an ultrasound to be sure that the baby is doing well and to find out the sex of the baby.

A pregnant woman should ask her doctor about information in regards to breastfeeding, When the 8th month approaches, daily relaxations should begin. A pregnant woman should make sure that a budget is already in place because she will need money for many baby items. During a pregnancy, a woman should speak with her partner about responsibilities that will come with a baby. She should also get in touch with someone who has been pregnant in case of problems that might arise. It's also very important that someone is there to help a woman after she has given birth.
