The Restored Roar of Detroit

Michigan football is in shambles, The once prominent and successful Wolverines now but an unranked team in the masses. Being upset and torn apart without a shrew of confidence left; it is only week 3. Fans most certainly hurt under the weight and burden of a crushed greatness, it will be a most lonely fall. But under all the pessimism and shame brought on them this season their is still a glimmer of hope for the fans and it shines silver and blue.

The long forgotten Lions, a team known for its mediocrity has the opportunity to save the game this year for the disappointed people who follow the pigskin. They've won one game, not by alot and in an obvious Lions fashion but one game speaks volumes about a team; a team with something to prove. Each individual effort, I believe is guided by an aura of sheer doubt, each player hounded by press, fans, family, anything that knows what the Lions have done or more accurately have not done in the past. Jon Kitna, never a leader in the NFL had most if not all his success in the European League, a great arm that never truly developed as a deep passing threat in the more difficult and complex American League.

Tatum Bell a basic temp on the team for the injured Kevin Jones, has a task of not only gaining success rushing the ball but doing it in a short few weeks, to keep his position but most importantly to keep his job. Calvin Johnson the most built up rookie for this entire season, he has much riding on his back, to leave up to the expectations he not only has to play his very best every game but do it so in a grace undefined. Another wide receiver the talented Roy Williams has a different more personal challenge, and that's his name. Being more talented and skilled then more than the majority of NFL receivers Roy is not considered with the Randy Mosses or Marvin Harrison's that lead the league right beside or below his name.

He ofcoarse isn't far off and the lions weak overall ability may be cause of that but his determination to be known as a great in the league will push his abilities far behind any anticipation. The stories continue from Shaun Rogers return to Kevin Jones emanate return. The stakes are stacked high for these Lions and you can bet your bottom dollar that they will strive and overcome, if not then ive been lead astray by what I thought to be a potentially marvelous team. Pay close attention to the commotion in Ford Field this year, those sounds might actually be the sounds of Michigan residents, Lions fans, cheering.

B.F., once again, good job on the article. I am looking forward to seeing how the lions do this year, even though I am not a Detroit fan. It would be nice to see something different, besides the cheating powerhouse of New England go to the superbowl again this year. But, I must say, GO COLTS!
