The Return of Club Ritual

Half-naked metal chicks, $2 Buds, and an excellent variety of rock and metal music is what you'll find at Club Ritual (located in Levittown, NY). Yes Club Ritual is back and the metal-heads, the alternatives, and everyone in between finally have a place to go again to rock out, mosh, and dance. This past weekend marked the grand re-opening of the club. This weekend was sponsored by 92.3 K-Rock, New York's number 1 modern-rock station. DJs from the radio station and even the infamous Mistress Juliya were in attendance on Saturday night. Metal and rock, from the old to the new, were played. Everything from Pantera to Metallica to Nine Inch Nails to 30 Seconds to Mars could be heard to satisfy everyone's rock 'n' roll cravings.

Despite cheap drinks, good music, and skimpily-clad dancing girls, the place was nowhere near packed and few were willing to set foot in the middle of the dance floor. Late into the night a few brave souls made their way to the middle of the floor to mosh with each other and a few couples could be seen getting into the music as well. Most clung to the bar and drank the night away while bobbing their heads to the music. A few seemed to be mistaken and thought they were at a strip club as they decided to shove dollar bills down the pants of the girls who worked for the club and were dancing on the speakers. However, a security guard and a much needed kick to the face from one of the dancers quickly dispelled any notions of the nature of the club. Things finally began to pick up slightly when a DJ announced a contest to win a trip to the Bahamas. All the men quickly gathered around to watch a few local girls dance as sexually as possible in order to win the trip. Even a smashed Mistress Juliya decided to leave the comfort of the VIP couch to help out with the contest and rile up the crowd.

Only time will tell if Club Ritual will once again be the hotspot for rockers or if it will fade away as quickly as it came back. Most young people today feel that they'd rather dance to hip-hop, reggae, and electronic music which dominate a large majority of the clubs on Long Island. Some may find themselves frightened by all the leather and studded bracelets, while others may be uncertain or unaccustomed to dancing to rock. No matter what the case may be, it is good to know that the hearts of a select few have been appeased knowing that they can once again find solace in all things rock and metal at Ritual.
