Than the monster that dwells within our heart
Destroying our dreams and sense of adventure
Determined to rip our confidence apart
We let this enemy steal our dreams
Our idealism gets stomped on or tossed aside
All because "that's the way world works"
A defeatist attitude we take in stride
Maybe cynicism has drained our hope
Maybe we are drowning in a swamp of fear
But that bog of despair is of our own making
We accept the dim view and hold it dear
I think it's time to change our attitude
Let bitterness know the feeling of defeat
Open your heart and mind to possibilities
Let idealism have the driver's seat

My favorite verse is "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind." Good to remember!
There are definitely monsters in our hearts that need to be set free. Thanks Donna.
