Well, here's the scoop of what happened:
(ATTENTION! I AM GIVING AWAY WHAT HAPPENED! IF YOU DIDN'T GET TO SEE IT, PAY THE $1.50 AT I-TUNES TO DOWNLOAD THE EPISODE AND GET CAUGHT UP SO THAT I DON"T SPOIL IT!)
At the beginning of the season opener, 'Bury Your Dead', Director Shepard has been having Magee, Abbey, and the rest working around the clock on a black operation in order to bring out 'The Frog' (* played by Armand Assante) and gain his whereabouts. But, she discovers some new and interesting secrets as well, and already has a plan set in motion to cath 'Le Grenoui' and bring him to justice. But, where this is becoming harder is when she finds out that her father whom was supposed to be dead and buried is now actually alive after his prints were found on a bottle of whiskey and some whiskey glasses. Now, with this information in hand, she is doing everything to keep her father's secret safe, including erasing evidence on the forensic lab computers to cover her tracks.
But, we must not forget Tony, who now has been made by the arms dealer, and has now had to blow his cover in order to keep the love of his life, The Frog's daughter, Sean, who has now left him thinking that he has lied to her about who he is and what he was doing. Also, Jethro Gibbs (*played by Mark Harmon) has threatened to have Shepard fired due to her lack of objectivity on the caase and taking everything too personally, especially when it comes to the realization of her father's death and the yearning to see the Frog dead.
But, it is revealed that the arms dealer has been nothing more than a target, as well as his daughter, when the truth comes out finally which leads to his uneventful end at the end of the episode. The Frog comes to the feet of NCIS asking for asylum for himself and his family, as he has been a puppet in one fo the largest CIA covert operations in the agency's history. They were leaning on him when they found out of his illicit arms activities, and forcing themselves on him for information about the market, as well as attempting to maintain a stranglehold on the business so that the whole of the market will end up in the control of the CIA. They had already made an attempt on his daughter (as well as Tony) by blowing up Tony's car with a bomb in the hopes of taking out the daughter. But, being feared dead, the team learns later that when Tony's cover was blown and that he was taken to the Frog's limousine instead and was protected, as the Frog wanted him alive for the simple fact that he made his daughter happy. That, and it allowed him to try to forge the deal with NCIS through him, and later almost being killed by Shepard when he tries to make the arrangements at her house. He also lets her know that he was the one that put her father on the run, as her father had accepted a bribe from him to make sure that the Weapons Reduction Treaty never saw the light of day, which would keep him in business for the rest of his life as well as his jailers.
Now, with Tony's engagement destroyed and Shepard looking at a possible termination and court-martial due to her actions, we now wonder what will happen next. One thing is for sure, 'Le Grenoui' will never be heard from again!
I was slightly disappointed with the ending, as it moved too fast and then landed with a thud with the death of Armand Assante's character. he was still full of possibilites, and now we have been left with one of their greatest episode strings hanging in the wind. Next week, it's another sex crime....the murder of a stripper. They did at least four cases like that last season. It sounds to me like their writers have some work to do, and they're going to have to keep the same intensity as the last four seasons if they want to get a renewal contract for next year!
