The Return of Monday Night Wars: WWE and TNA Going Head to Head

Spy Radio
Hulk Hogan is getting ready to run wild on January 4th. The 4th will mark Hogan's debut in Total Nonstop Action (TNA). Not only will it be Hogan's debut, but TNA will be going head to head against World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). It's the return of the Monday Night Wars or is it?

TNA will be airing a three hour special starting at 8 pm, this is a entire hour before WWE. TNA is hoping to grab the viewers early and hope they stick around, but WWE is not about to let that happen. Rumors have been going around that WWE is trying to get their own three hour special. There have also been rumors of them doing a commercial free show. A commercial free show is not a bad idea. It would prevent people from flipping to TNA during commercials.

I personally don't think it matters what WWE does on the 4th. They are the top dog and have better ratings. The Nov. 23rd episode of Raw pulled in a 3.5 rating, while the Nov. 19th episode of Impact pulled in a 1.1. Sure the debut of Hogan will pull in decent numbers, but he is only one superstar. Plus I'm not to sure how many people are excited to see a 56 year old man back in the ring. Don't get me wrong Hogan has done a lot for the wrestling business, but at a certain age I think it's time to hang up the boots.

TNA does not stand a chance WWE has too many superstars in its arsenal. Besides the Raw superstars like Randy Orton and Triple H, they can bring over Smackdown superstars such as The Undertaker and Batista. Besides the superstars Raw also features a guest host. I think the guest host brings in a lot of viewers, plus it keeps the show interesting because the viewer never knows what the guest host is willing to do. As we have already seen with Seth Green and Shaq doing a little in ring action.

If WWE mops the floor with TNA on the 4th, it will be quite some time before they go head to head again. TNA is still in the development stage and can not afford to lose ratings to Raw week after week.
