It may mind-blowing to believe that Wes Welker could return to playing football in 2010 - due to he tore his ACL in week 16. But the return of "The Shadow" will be an integral part to the Patriots lineup, and you can believe he got a lot of inspiration from Tom Brady when he befell to a season ending knee injury in 2008. It may seem strange that both Brady and Welker would sustain knee injuries that could have possibly ended their NFL career. If it were not for the new technology of modern medicine and surgery - Welker would not have been able to return as soon as he did, it is simply astonishing how Welker managed to come back and play a preseason game so soon.

Wes Welker did not begin his NFL career as a wide receiver, as a matter of fact he was a designated punt returner, and he also played on special teams.

When Welker graduated from Texas Tech in 2004, he would be ranked among the lowest draft pick in his 2004 NFL Draft Class. Wes Welker would play for the San Diego Chargers for a brief stint before he would be traded to the Miami Dolphins during the same year, Welker would end his tenure with Dolphins in 2006.

Wes Welker would go on to find new life as he would have the opportunity to join the New England Patriots team in 2006, and he would immediately be inserted into the lineup as a wide receiver. Coach Bill Belichick saw his potential and would not pass up the opportunity to give Welker the chance to display his talents, and four years later has proven to be the right decision pertaining to the Patriots success.

Wes Welker was having one of his best seasons in 2009, his 123 receptions were a league best, and his 1,348 yards were his best ever. As the Patriots approach the 2010 season, Wes Welker may have one of his finest seasons, "only the shadow knows" if this unsung warrior will have an MVP season in 2010.
