The Return of Tiger Woods to Golfing

Tiger Woods has announced that he will be playing in the Masters Golf Tournament on April 8, 2010 in but he also stated that he must still work on repairing his private life. Personally, I am not a golfing fan, but many maybe hurt by his fall from grace in the recent months. Since the November accident, several women came out claiming to have been his mistresses. The revelation devastated his marriage to wife Elin, who is the mother of his two young children.

For the last few months, Tiger has been receiving inpatient care at a rehab clinic that is known to treat sexual addictions. The family is staying quiet, even though many magazines have claimed that the couple is divorcing. He decided to take a break from golfing, while the controversy flared and the media storm continued. The women began speaking out about their relationship with Tiger and some women chose to pose for magazine pictures.

Yet, during this time, Elin and Tiger were dealing with the media frenzy that this story had created for their family. According to Woods (2010), he has been communicating with fans via his website and he apologized for his behavior. He also stated that Elin was an innocent party and he needs to focus on his family. Many fans now feel as if he let them down, but in my opinion it was his family who was hurt the most.

Unfortunately, his fall from grace ruined his squeaky clean image and many sponsors began dropping his advertisements. Some advertisers did stick by him, while he does he best in the near future to earn the public's trust once again. The magazine will continue to print pictures and follow this story, as he works to put this situation behind him. Only the future will tell whether, he will be able to win the trust of his wife and his fans.

However, his personal life will continue to be scrutinized and put under a microscope by the different media outlets. Personally, I am hoping that he is able to save his marriage and become the husband that Elin deserves to have in her life. I also hope his children can forgive his betrayal, once they are old enough to learn about it. Maybe he will lose a fan or two over this scandal, but his family should be more important than his golfing career.

His return to golfing could be the start of a brand new life for Tiger and his family, but he will have a lot of work ahead of him. He will be competing in the Master's tournament and hoping to win another trophy to add to his collection. According to Goldman (2010), his return will benefit his sponsors financially including CBS and ESPN. Therefore, many eyes will be on Tiger Woods, once he is back on the golf course in Augusta, GA.
