The Rewards of Owning a Pet

Chen Salis
Owning a pet is one of the most rewarding experiences in life. Pet ownership offers the chance to build an unconditional lasting friendship, based on loyalty, trust and happiness. There is nothing like the sight of a happy dog anxiously awaiting your arrival, or licking your face in a good morning greeting. When you have had a great day, your dog is happy to share a moment with you, as you tell him all about it. After a terrible day, your dog is always there to remind you, as far as he is concerned, You are the best!

Pets teach us many lessons. We learn patience through training. We learn trust, as we teach them to trust and obey us, and they learn to mind us as their master. Your pet might also teach you about forgiveness, as they are so eager to please us, they easily forgive us our wrong doings. Owning a pet also teaches responsibility, as the animal is completely dependent on you.

Friendship is the most valuable and rewarding of all aspects of pet ownership. My two dogs are seriously my best friends. I can depend on them to always be here waiting on me, they always love me, and bring a smile to my face. It has been said that owning a pet is also beneficial to your health, pets help relieve depression, high blood pressure, and generally bring a smile to your face. Owning a dog can be a good form of exercise, as dogs need to be walked often.
Charles Schultz said it best with "Happiness is a warm puppy." I couldn't agree more. My dogs have provided me with endless hours of fun, I could literally spend an entire day playing fetch and taking walks with them. I know they would protect me if necessary, and no matter what happens, we will be friends. My dogs are members of my family, like children. The joy they bring to me is unlike anything else in the world I have experienced .So many people expect so much from me, but my dogs let me relax, and find pleasure in life. They just want me happy and healthy, and ready to walk or play. A more true friend can not be found, a more unconditional love does not exist. Owning a pet opens up possibilities, and days of fun to come. For me, there is nothing like waking up to see two wagging tails, and two sets of warm brown eyes, greeting me good morning, awaiting our day together.
