Bossa Nova is a Brazilian music genre derived from popular music form "Samba". Bossa Nova is relatively known for its swaying motion, unlike other similar music forms. Antonio Carlos Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes and João Gilberto are said to be the 3 founders of this music genre. Bossa Nova has a great history behind it, right from its evolution to its impact on Brazilian politics. This music form gathered its way in the late 1950s, and has gained momentum since then to be one amongst the known music form worldwide.

During the early 1950s, Brazil erupted with emerging music bands and artists who started popular music records played widely in clubs. While Brazil was progressing economically, the search for new trend of music with unique sound, lead to the emergence of Bossa Nova form of music.

The term "bossa" means charm and flair in Brazilian language, usually enjoyed by the rich. Although Bossa Nova was criticized on grounds that it catered only to upper class and middle class Brazilian people, it had a huge fan following amongst young students and musicians during its emergence. They were played in clubs and orchestra during that period.

Bossa Nova has some similarities with Jazz music genre in its use of chord. Bossa Nova was a new, intelligent and humorous music evolution of those days, which inevitably fascinated the American jazz musicians as well, making it more popular with passing time. There were also a part of few films in the later years which again contributed to its popularity and demand amongst the masses.

Bossa Nova is usually performed on guitar, played with fingers rather than plucking the strings with a pick. It has been an inspiration for many musicians ever since, who formed new creations like BossaElectrica, TecnoBossa, etc based on the original Bossa Nova genre. There are many well known artists that gathered beautiful music records and crazy fan following along with extended career path with this music genre.
