The Right Mindset to Be a Spiritual Entity in Typing Maniac

Let Me Share Some Practical Tips on How to Get to that High Score on Facebook's Typing Maniac

Achieve the highest status in Facebook's Typing Maniac! That coveted top score can be yours and you can leave all your friends drooling with envy hehe. I'm sure you're looking for hints (even cheats but I sure hope not). Well here are 3 practical tips that will turn you into a Spiritual Entity in no time.

If you're a real Typing Maniac addict, you're very familiar with the frustration of not being able to beat your own score. Fine if you can't beat a friend (although it can be just as frustrating come to think of it). But not being able to get close to your own high score sucks big time! It's like that crossroad when Typing Maniac was just new and we all got stuck between robot status and alien fame.

The trick is, there's a right mindset to acing Typing Maniac and be well on your way to be The Spiritual Entity. Of course there's constant practice and other helpful tips, but there's also the mind conditioning that you have to get into before claiming victory over your friends and yourself.

I don't call myself an expert but I don't think you'll disagree with these tips

1. The 3rd game's the charm

You have to be in the mood! I'm not kidding. It's the same principle as warming up your car, or pre-heating the oven, or the whole notion of foreplay. When you open Facebook, and click on your Typing Maniac bookmark, it takes your mind and fingers a few moments to get into the speed typing mode that you need.

The 1st game is the challenger! You're thinking you can do this, you can do this, and you chant it to yourself. But failure will hit you on your first try. Expect it, but don't be bogged down by it. It's part of the process. Failure is part of the victory! You might even end up just getting half of your high score. Don't fret. It's ok. That failure will trigger your mind and fingers to push yourself harder (all unconsciously of course). Channel that frustration to try again, this time, you'll do better.

The 2nd game will definitely be better, but not as good as you need it to be. You'll probably get ¾ of your current high score. Again, don't fret. It's all natural and all good. It will help you get all fired up for the real game.

Now the 3rd time you hit that "PLAY" button is the time for you to strut your stuff. You've been conditioned well enough. You're playing your best game whether your aware of it or not (hopefully not, these tips are good to keep at the back of your mind. But when you're in the middle of playing, don't analyze these tips. Put full concentration on the game!).

I'm not discounting the bursts of luck that hits once in a while, but when you want to boil it down to a science, this is the methodology.

2. Don't think about winning

You don't need the extra pressure, especially not from yourself. Typing Maniac is a game! The minute you forget that, you're a L-O-S-E-R. I always say, if you're not having fun, it's not worth it. Don't think too hard. Channel all your energy and concentration on recognizing the words, cueing your fingers and empty your mind of distractions. I hate it when Facebook pops out a notification while I'm playing. It's just too distracting. (HINT: You can cover that part of your monitor so you don't have to lose concentration when Facebook notifications appear in the middle of the game.)

3. Accuracy is not the key

It may be one of the most difficult tips to internalize especially when you're an obsessive-compulsive with high standards. This was painful for me at first, but after a while it's a necessary evil. Keeping track of accuracy and trying to get that 200 in a row will make you lose focus on the real objective of the game (which is to be a Spiritual of course). Let go. You have to. Accuracy won't get you that high score. You have to let some of the words drop. Then, just call for the power of the WIND.

Leave a comment for me will you. I'd love to discuss my favorite game in Facebook. Maybe you could share some of your tips too.

I'll be off now! Gotta start typing!

Hey, thanks for the tips Mark! I'll try your technique about not being too dependent on the power ups under level 8. I do admit that sometimes there's a 'slacking off' tendency because of the power ups and you don't get enough adrenaline to really do your best :)

You make some good points. My high score is 1 million and change. I agree with you about being warmed up mentally and physically by the 3rd game. Interestingly, the two times I got over 1 million was on a first game. I think the pressure of trying to beat a score hasn't set in yet on a 1st, so your mind is more relaxed. Some other tips:

    1. Get 100% for at least the first ten levels, which gives you the bonus points. I don't start using the power-ups (wind, fire, ice, and slow) until the 8th or 9th level. I try to get three slows and three ices by level 8. If I have fire or wind in the 6-stack power-ups, I deliberately use one to free up a space if I see a slow or an ice come along.

    2. From level 9-15, use this method: start the level by typing slow. Just before slow wears off, type ice. If you're fast enough, you'll have cleared the screen using only those two power-ups. If by the time ice wears off, you haven't cleared the screen, use fire to clear the screen. Again
