The Right Toys For Children
Newborn babies can not see too clearly for the first few days. They love to be held and loved. The best toys for them at these age are:
musical mobiles
music cd's
black and white books
mirrors
keys
Newborn babies start smiling in the few days of life. The tend to see black and white clearly. If you can, buy some black and whites cards or a mobile. They love to be in the swing or bouncer. They sleep most of the day.
Infants love playing with keyboards and musical toys. When they start to crawl and walk they will show you what their favorite toy is. The best toys for infants are:
learning toys
motor skills toys
books
blocks
legos
balls
teddy bears
phones
housepans
pop n' pal toys
causes and effect toys
When they reach toddler years then they become called "terrible two's". Yes they are because they touch everything you tell them not to. They become independent. Discipline starts now. Sit them in a time out if they are having a bad behavior. Timeout helps them show who is the boss. This is the time to have them potty trained. Start by having them use the "potty" once a day. They will get the hang of it.
Toddlers love to get into what they know they can't. Here are some toys that are great for them:
crayons
video learning tapes
dolls
puzzles
books
claydough
stuffed animals
sand toys
cars, trains, and trucks
dressup clothes
Preschoolers are at a great age for learning. They can understand much more than infants and toddlers. They love to chat and play. Some days they nap and some days they don't. They can sit through a book without jumping all around. Here are some great toys they will love:
dinosaurs
play and dress dolls
dvd movies
rocks
crayons, paint
train sets
pretend play
water play
sand boxes
ride on toys
legos, blocks
children software
All of these of great fine motor skill toys as well. They are fun and interesting for the child.Through play, children develop their knowledge of the world around them. Parents can help steer that learning in the right direction by choosing toys that teach kids everything from counting to other languages. Some children are slower at speech than others. That is normal they will catch up. Through play you can help them make the words of the animals, cars and they will slowly start to repeat after you.
Children need to have playtime. It is the way they learn and explore.
