There's a diamond in the rough
A beauty with ragged edges
A missing color in a rainbow
A permanent fixture with a subtle glow
Blink and you might miss
This unnoticed but special gift
Look beyond its surface
For its potential is limitless
It doesn't speak loudly
So listen closely to hear its voice
Take a second look for it may be the better choice
Be patient as this gem find its way
For today or even tomorrow may not be the day
Try to understand this person for who they are
A Late Bloomer
Soon to be
A rising star

Post a CommentVery beautiful, and oh soooo very true, you never know who the person standing next to you may be tomorrow......peace and blessings to you!!!
as always nicely done, I really enjoyed reading this and picturing in my mind the late bloomers and rising stars that I have been graced with the opportunity to encounter and witness their emergences.
I think we can't be reminded enough as a species, as a people that there are always diamonds in the rough so easily dismissed or misunderstood.
Your poem reveals wisdom and quite a bit of truth I think. I'm a late bloomer and work in progress...not sure about the rising star;)
Wonderful thoughts - very good reminder to be patient and let everyone find themselves when they are ready. Loved it.
So wonderful!
Wonderful...
According to you, I am a rising star. This is more than lovely and I'll claim it 4myself.
Superb! A poem for all those late bloomers out there and for those who love them (or should).
