I love this classic rock material they play on a daily basis, but this advertisement during their commercial breaks stating that they are "NEW" seems to be getting OLD for everyday Atlanta listeners like me since their original broadcasting of June 2006 in these past (3) three years. "Come on you guys, enough is enough!" Has your station director/manager simply gone to sleep? Or What? Your repetitious approx.100 weekly song list could also use a few adjustments also for daily Atlanta radio listeners of this Atlanta radio station simply called the NEW "River 97.1 of 2006?"
There are many Atlanta radio listeners that would like to hear other songs from the 1970's and 1980's era from your station? Especially songs from the Michael Jackson "Thriller" album, which you never seem to play for some strange reason? "What about the 1980's hit songs of Madonna?" Which you seem to never play also? These (2) two particular classic recording artist have sold millions of albums over the decades, but yet? The so-called "NEW 97.1 of 2006" Atlanta, Ga. radio station which originally started their broadcast in June of 2006, still refuses to play any songs by these 2 lifetime incredible recording artist.
"So, how old does a radio station have to be before they quit advertising that they are "NEW?" Apparently, this hit radio station called the" NEW River 97.1" of 2006 here in Atlanta, Ga. seems to think this advertisement should go on forever? With their continuous radio advertising that they advertise they are "NEW?" over and over and over and over and over and over and over again? for Atlanta listeners since their arrival and broadcasting of June 19, 2006. It's obvious, this radio station director/manager needs to be replaced, simply because he or she never reads any of the emails or phone calls sent for song(s) request from it's daily listeners.
This so-called "NEW" 97.1 of 2006 Atlanta radio station plays a continuous song list of about 100 classic rock songs each week over and over again, consisting of famous artist such as: Boston, Eagles, Eric Clapton, Kansas, Led Zeppelin, Lynrd Skynrd, Billy Joel, Tom Petty, Styx, Rolling Stones, The Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, ZZ Top, Boz Scaggs, Elton John, John Mellencamp, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Queen, Steve Miller, Aerosmith, Reo speedwagon, Gordon Lightfoot,
Peter Frampton, Bad Company, Free, David Bowie, Supertramp, Kiss, Robert Palmer, Eddie Money, The Cars, Heart, Rod Stewart, Pat Benetar, Elvin Bishop, Stephen Stills, The Who, The Pretenders, The Police, Sting, Blue Oyster Cult, Don Maclean, The Allman Brothers Band, Greg Allman, Atlanta Rhythm Section, etc. "Which is not that bad!" However?
"What happened to Michael Jackson and Madonna?" This truly wonderful listening Atlanta radio station called " The NEW River 97.1" of 2006" does seem to have to it's work ahead of them? Especially, if they expect to survive playing classic rock on a daily basis. Atlanta's classic " 96 rock" finally just simply gave up and decided to play alternative rock music. Radio station B98.5 here in Atlanta, Ga. seems to play all the "hits" of easy rock for a daily listening work environment, which they seem to be so famous for and the fact that they play classic rock hits of the 1970's and 1980's.
Atlanta radio station B98.5 has also played many songs by Michael Jackson since his death on June 25, 2009, regarding his memory of being one of the greatest recording artist and performers of the 20th century, unlike "the River 97.1 of 2006" whom apparently, seems to have NO respect for this enormous entertainer that was been claimed to be bigger than "Elvis Presley", simply becuase of record sales of the hit album "Thriller" back in the 1980's, which Michael will always be noted for in history.
