The Road

You look happy in a photograph

You took the path of least resistance

You took the easy path

Because the road to me is complicated

Lit with fireworks and flares

The road to me is desacrated

Full of circus clowns and carnival wares

So just stay there in your snow globe

And I'll live in my etch a sketch alone

While protected by your glass dome

I will shake out a new picture of home

But you look happy from far away

When you're not looking at me

You still have so much of nothing to say

And your happy face is still looking for me

But my face is like a canvas

For you to paint on when you have the time

And a moment with me can only be madness

Leaving you beautifully blind

So drive away so I won't drive you insane

Drive down the road you drive in vain

Remember me but don't look back or away

Because the road to me can only lead to pain....
