The Rock and John Cena War of Words Escalates

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson isn't one to shy away from challenges or attacks from other WWE wrestlers. The Rock appeared on the Feb. 28 edition of Monday Night Raw in a pre-taped video segment at his home and addressed the comments that John Cena made about him a week before.

For those who missed it, The Rock returned to the WWE after a long seven-year hiatus on the Feb. 14 episode of Raw, and announced that he would be the special Guest Host of WrestleMania, also taking occasional shots at John Cena and WWE Champion The Miz. The Rock made fun of Cena's "You Can't See Me" catchphrase, and the bright shirts he wears. This is where the war of words began between two of the most popular superstars in WWE history.

John Cena didn't take those words kindly, and responded to The Rock on last week's Raw. Cena responded in the form of a rap, which is unusual for Cena, considering he hasn't had his rapping gimmick for the last six years. But Cena showed that he could still rap, giving The Rock some of his medicine, making fun of some of the movies The Rock has been in, including "The Tooth Fairy" and "The Game Plan," and saying how we haven't seen The Rock for the past seven years. Cena did make some good points, and finished his rapping promo saying that he has been with the WWE fans for those seven years, while The Rock went out to make more movies.

The Rock was advertised to appear on Monday Night Raw this week and address Cena's comments from last week. The Rock finally appeared in the middle of this week's Raw episode, appearing on the titantron. The Rock appeared in full Cena merchandise, including hat, necklace, and armband, and mocked Cena's rapping skills and his "You Can't See Me" catchphrase again. The Rock made a mock rap, ending with him taking Cena's merchandise off and slamming them to the floor. After saying his usual opening lines, including "Finally, The Rock has returned to Monday Night Raw" and how he is the champion of the people, The Rock began to dig in to Cena.

The Rock said that he came to Monday Night Raw and addressed Cena like a man, and Cena as a response, raps to him. The Rock continues saying how of course that's how Cena responds, and then mocks what Cena wears (purple shirt, dog tag chains, jean shorts) and his "Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect" catchphrase. The Rock then refreshed our memories of how it started, when Cena called The Rock a liar when he says he loves the WWE. Rock tells the WWE Universe that his blood is the WWE and how he is a third-generation superstar, with his father and grandfather being wrestlers before him. The Rock ended by saying that there will be consequences for Cena running his mouth, speculating that the two will meet at WrestleMania.

It will be interesting if this war of words will escalate even more, with Cena responding to The Rock's comments next week, or if they will hold off until finally meeting each other face-to-face at WrestleMania.
