The Ron Jon Surf Grill

Just from the name, you would expect a laid back setting because Ron Jon is known for its surfboards and attire. This restaurant does have a laid back feel with palm leaf fans, large windows, a lot of natural light, and a large bar, but disappointingly no views of the beach. Although you can't see the beach there are some great views of the large resort pool.

You can choose from indoor and outdoor seating, I personally enjoy to sit inside when I eat but people outside looked just as content with their meals. There is a wide variety of foods and there are daily specials which makes every eating experience a little different. As far as the appetizers go, you can't go wrong with shrimp cocktail. Some other delicious appetizers they offer include calamari, conch fritters, and crab cakes. The prices are a little high in my opinion because it is not in a prime location and you have to drive a little out of the way to get there.

There are plenty of options for salad lovers, such as the Ron Jon Chop Salad. This salad had mixed greens, chopped tomatoes, chopped onions, bacon, corn, blue cheese, shrimp, and chopped snap peas with an Apple Cider Vinaigrette, it is a large portion for only $12.00. Another great salad they feature is The Surf Grill Salad, this salad had mixed greens, bacon, hard boiled egg, blue cheese, sliced avocado with their house dressing. This was a very large portion and it was only $9.00

There are plenty of sandwiches and burgers. I didn't try anything except the blackened chicken wrap which was excellent! I did notice that a lot of the menu items have a beach theme, such as the "surf dog" or the "beach burger."

For entrees they have a lot of great selections. My favorite is the Farfalle Ron Jon which is farfalle with a cream sauce made of sausage, tomatoes, garlic, and smoked Gouda cheese. I also have tried the Seared Shrimp Capalini it has a champaign cream sauce, personally I found the sauce to be too sweet for my tastes. They also have fillet mignon, mahi mahi, and chicken piard.

They have plenty of excellent desserts but my favorite is the Absolute Chocolate. It is a flourless tourte with a chocolate ganache center, with creme angeles and a strawberry on the side.

Sounds like a fun place to eat. I like themed restaurants.
