The Rundown: What is the UFO Disclosure Project?

SN
The UFO Disclosure Project first began in 1993 as Project Starlight with the initial purpose of identifying and finding witnesses to UFOs and Extraterrestrial events. By formation of this project, Dr. Steven M. Greer hoped to gather evidence to be used for presentation to the general public. The project also hoped to achieve four other objectives:

-"To hold open, secrecy-free hearing on the UFO/Extraterrestrial presence on and around Earth.
- To hold open hearings on advanced energy and propulsion systems that, when publicly released, will provide solutions to global environmental challenges.
- To enact legislation which will ban all space-based weapons.
- To enact comprehensive legislation to research, develop and explore space peacefully and cooperatively with all cultures on Earth and in space."

By August 2000, the project had become known as the Witness Archive Project and set about traveling to record personal interviews with witnesses. By March 2000, these interviews had edited to select testimony and transcribed from video, to audio, and finally to transcript. From 2001, onward the project had began open press conferences discussing the material, most notably the May 2001 National Press Conference Presentation (available for full viewing on Youtube on the link below).

Pros & Cons:

Pros:

- The first steps to the separation of fact and fabrication on the subject of UFOs and/or Extraterrestrials, and the U.S. governments dealings with them.
- Takes the first truly organized attempt at public disclosure.

Cons:

- Naive and weak attempt at a serious matter.
- Not widely known about, not widely publicized, not taken seriously.
- Puts the lives and careers of many people on the line without much return.

The Rundown:

The Disclosure Project was a noble attempt and the first notable attempt at determining what exactly are UFOs and/or Extraterrestrials through the petition of congress and gathering of legitimate evidence from reliable sources. The project seriously lacked funding and a mass support needed for the revealing of such information, if there is material at all, but paved way for more such organized attempts in the future.
