The RuneScape Guide to F2P Gold Mining

A Look at F2P Locations of Gold Ore

David Farrell
Mining gold ore in RuneScape is one of the best ways to make profit as F2P. Gold ore is in high demand by RuneScape members because RuneScape members can get 56.2 smithing experience per ore when wearing goldsmithing gauntlets. Gold ore sells between 200 and 500 RuneScape gold per ore, and in F2P RuneScape worlds there is usually a player at every mine, waiting for the respawn. There are seven locations where F2P RuneScape players can obtain gold ores; six mines and one respawn spot. Here is a look at these mines, in order of difficulty. Reference this F2P Gold Ore locations and maps slideshow for pictures and maps of the locations.

Rimmington Mine: There is two gold rocks in the Rimmington mine. The rimmington mine has neither monsters nor level requirements, but the only thing RuneScape players can do while waiting for the rock respawn is power mine iron.

Al Kharad Scorpion mine: There is two gold rocks in the entrance of the Al Kharad mine, and the mine is a moderate distance from a bank. The mine also contains iron, coal, mithril, silver, and adamantite rocks. RuneScape players with level 43 magic can superheat mithril or adamantite if they mine enough coal while waiting for the gold respawn. Or they can kill the level 14 scorpions.

Dwarf mines, Falador: Like the Al Kharad mine, the two gold rocks are guarded by level 14 scorpions. Low-level players must beware of level 32 king scorpions. There are some coal, mithril, and adamantite rocks, so players can superheat or train combat. RuneScape players with level 60 mining have access to the mining guild, which provides plenty of coal and mithril rocks.

Karamja mine, Karamja Volcano. The Karamja mine is located just inside the volcano crater. It is a long way from either bank or teleport, with the fastest way being to cabbage-port holding 30 RuneScape coins and sail to Musa point. Run west past the level 14 scorpions and climb down the rocks to reach the mine. There are four gold rocks in the mine, and some level 22 skeletons to train combat on while waiting for rock respawns.

Crafting Guild mine, south of Falador: The crafting guild requires level 40 crafting and a brown apron to enter. The crafting guild is a moderate distance from a bank, but using the cabbage port option of the Explorer ring 3, you can cut some distance. There are no activities to do while waiting for respawn except for mining clay and silver. There are seven gold rocks, so if you are alone you don't have to wait long.

North Crandor mine: On the northeast corner of Crandor Island, there is a gold mine containing three gold rocks. Access to crandor requires completion of Dragon Slayer quest, is very far from a bank, requires running past level 82 lesser demons, and you can only reach two of the three rocks from either side of the mine due to the trees and cliffs.

West Varrock Bank basement gold ore respawn: Gold Ore respawns in the cellar of the west Varrock bank, fenced off from player access. By casting telegrab, a player is able to get the gold ore.

So these are the locations of gold ore in F2P RuneScape worlds. The best would be the crafting guild, second best Karamja. World switching can be employed to optimize Karamja yield, but you risk logging onto an occupied mine.
