Crackers - This is probably the most tried and true remedy out there. Yes they are so dry and tasteless you have no idea why you would even consider eating these but that is the whole point. They are bland but stick to your stomach. I don't know what the miracle property in these bits of "cardboard" are but they have a knack for settling a gals stomach.
Lemon - I have a friend who swore to me that lemonade would help with my nausea. So, I tried it and what do you know, it worked! Lemons are said to have a natural way of alleviating nausea, especially the scent of lemons. If you're super smell sensitive when it comes to food, put some lemon oil on a cloth and carry it with you wherever you have to go. So if you get stuck in a situation where you can't immediately get away from a certain nauseating scent, take out that piece of cloth and hold it over your nose for a bit.
Ginger - Again, another one of those natural nausea inhibitors. Try making ginger tea by putting some ginger in hot water and letting it sit for a few. If you need some sweetener in it try using honey. I've also heard candied ginger works and even pickled ginger.
Peppermint - An oldie but goodie, peppermint has a long history as an anti-nausea "medicine". You can make it as a tea or do like I did and suck on peppermint candies. The candies came in really handy at work while I was on the go and couldn't exactly sit down for a steaming cup of tea.
Vitamin B6 - My OB actually recommended this one. Something with this vitamin is supposed to alleviate nausea associated with pregnancy. I think this is great except if you're like me and your gag reflex has gone into overdrive, taking a pill might not be the best thing.
Preggi Pops - These are pretty much peppermint, ginger and B6 in lollipop form. I haven't yet to try these but some ladies swear on them. I guess again these are great if you don't have too much a problem with gagging but the good thing about them is that they make ginger taste good! (not a fan of ginger, sorry)
Finally, a few tips that may help out with the nausea: Try to eat small meals frequently and eat meals that are not greasy or fatty. On the other hand, go with your cravings. If you are craving a plate of fettuccine alfredo, go for it. Usually your cravings will make you feel better, at least for a little while. Also, try taking your prenatal vitamins in the evening or later in the day. Especially if your "morning sickness" is really just limited to the morning.
My prego friends, I hoped this helped a little bit. At least you'll get some humor out of the expression on your husbands face when you give him your grocery list. Good luck ladies and have a happy and healthy pregnancy.
