In the early morning light;
A knock on my front door;
Still echoes loudly in my memory;
And for the days soon after;
Life would never be the same;
O how brilliant was the sky;
On that clear September morning;
The day that I was told;
That you were gone forever;
For three long days;
Life became a blur;
And the day that we laid you to rest;
There was not a cloud in the sky;
It wasn't until the next day;
The clouds rolled in;
And the sky opened up;
And pour down tears from Heaven;
The tears that my heart cries today;
Even as the years go by;
Marking the sad days of September;
With a bold, dark line
A knock on my front door;
Still echoes loudly in my memory;
And for the days soon after;
Life would never be the same;
O how brilliant was the sky;
On that clear September morning;
The day that I was told;
That you were gone forever;
For three long days;
Life became a blur;
And the day that we laid you to rest;
There was not a cloud in the sky;
It wasn't until the next day;
The clouds rolled in;
And the sky opened up;
And pour down tears from Heaven;
The tears that my heart cries today;
Even as the years go by;
Marking the sad days of September;
With a bold, dark line

Post a CommentSeptember is a happy and sad time for me also as I celebrate by birth and I mourn the loss of my mother one week later - 18th September 2008. Etched in my memory till the end of time. I feel so much for you Lisa. She will watch over you and guide you through your life. She is all around you. xx
Losing a sibling is devastating. I still remember the phone call I got telling me my brother was gone. It was Easter Sunday and for many years I could not celebrate Easter happily. I still did it, for the kids and grandkids but it wasn't a happy holiday for me for a long time. I met my boyfriend on Easter Eve and the next morning we got together and he brought me a glass Easter egg filled with candy. I think it was a sign from my brother that this one would be a keeper.
A beautiful tribute to your sister. Sorry for your loss.
