The Salahis Crashed the Party and Some Are Impressed

Marie Lowe
So what are your thoughts on Tareq and Michaele Salahi, a.k.a the party crashers?

Unless you have been living under a rock, you have heard the story about the couple that managed to get past White House security on Nov. 24 and rub shoulders with President Barack Obama and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The Indian media is calling the incident a "massive breach of security" and accuses the secret service of "sleeping on the job."

Since the story broke, the secret service has been seeking answers and the couple is reportedly seeking money before they give any interviews.

Officials want the couple punished.

It would appear that not everyone feels that way. A check of the couple's now famous Facebook page shows that the couple has over 11,000 fans.

Their page is littered with comments, some in favor of what they pulled off and others against.

So far 469 people have given the thumbs up to the photos of the couple posing with Marines and others at the event.

Over 1,000 people have left comments.

One comment reads, "You guys done a great job."

Another comment asks, "I'm curious about why you would want to crash a party of such high social standing when you want to be part of it. It now looks like you are both needy, sneaky, dangerous, and maybe liars. I hope that it turns out that you both were invited. It's an embarrassment for the secret service and one for you both as well. You looked wonderful and your husband is very handsome. Good luck, and I hope everything works out in good favor."

Another comment suggests that this could be a "sham by Obama."

Another comment tells the couple that they have no class.

One comment states that they did not crash the party but instead graced the occasion.

The comments go back and fourth both for and against the couple's actions.

One has to wonder what sort of message this sends to others around the world.

Will other leaders who choose to visit the White House be overwhelmed with security concerns?

Many compare Obama to John F. Kennedy and fear that like Kennedy he will be assassinated.

Well 46 years and 2 days after the Kennedy tragedy, Obama was not assassinated but his security was breached for hopefully the first and last time.

America should be thankful that we are not a country currently in mourning and instead only embarrassed.

What about the pictures from the past that appeared as though they were Obama's friends? If he keeps inconsiderate friends like this, it's his own fault. It makes me wish I were living under a rock sometimes. Good article, Marie.

I feel its a very scary thing, and the press should have never gave it so much time. By doing so showed our lack of security, and perhaps even gave temptation to harm the president by those who wouldn't dream of it otherwise out of fear.

So much for the White House security. If I were Obama and his family, I would be anxious about our safety. Great report!

It is scary because it sends the wrong message to would be terrorists. All we need is a dead president with all the other problems the nation is facing today.

Yeah I agree with Miko. While they should have known better, I don't think they should be punished. It wasn't their fault that the SS people let them in to begin with!

They should have been mature enough to know better but I don't think they should be punished really.. It's the security teams that should get a talk to because it was them whom failed. If anything, they proved that some more training needs to be done to protect our president!

I heard them say their lives have been ruined and I felt they deserved it. They have also been saying they were invited but they didn't have an invitation. I'm just amazed this could happen.

Wow! If the current administration can't even stop party crashers-what's next?

We used to crash wedding receptions but this was the ultimate. I don't have the kahunas for this one. I think it did prove that security is a little lax in the white house.
