The San Francisco 49ers: Team History

S.Port
The San Francisco 49ers were founded in 1946. They were easily one of the strongest teams in the entire league. In 1950 the team would enter the NFL after their league AAFC had dissolved. Unlike the dominate 49ers of the AAFC stated by 49ers History, when they got to the NFL they faced tough completion and fell short of owner Tony Morabito's expectations. In a game against the Chicago Bears in 1957 the 49ers would trail at half time. This game would come off of a 3 game winning streak. The score would be 17-7 as the 49ers went into their locker rooms. Coach Frankie Albert was handed a note while talking to his team that read Tony's gone! The owner of the San Francisco 49ers had died of an hart attack said by Jt-Sw. San Francisco would take the field with souring emotions that brought them from behind to win the game. Through the 60's the 49ers wouldn't live up to their dreams. Through this the niners would invent the Shotgun formation witch would later be adopted by every team in the league.

It was not until the early 80's when the niners would become a legitimate threat. The team would bring on a new head coach that would change the team and eventually the league. Bill Walsh would come from a successful career at Stanford to take control of the 49ers. Walsh would become know to the football world as the coach that popularized the west-coast offense. This was a type of offense that focused on short passing game to take place of an aggressive rushing attack. He would also bring in quarterback Joe Montana. Though they had another falling year with a 2-14 record many saw the talent that Walsh was creating. In 1981 he would also bring in Dwight Hicks and Ronnie Lott along with other to help shape his perfect offense. It wouldn't be long before they would become Super Bowl contenders. With an high caliber team including Jerry Rice they would capture their first Super Bowl title with Super Bowl XIX finishing the regular season 15-1. They would go on to win 5 total titles through Bill Walsh's influence witch is tied with the most in NFL history. Bill Walsh died in the beginning of the 2007 regular season from leukemia problems. They would finish that season just 5-11 from lack of recruiting from CBSsports, and injury in witch they went on a 8 game losing streak that demoralized their spirits.
