The Scenic View of Simla from Prospect Hill

People who like to visit hill stations would have a fabulous time in India as it is the country full of beautiful hill stations in all directions. I am fond of visiting various hill stations and enjoy different types of beautiful hill stations. The hill station of Simla is one such beautiful hill station. It attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world, which include a rather large number of foreigners. I had the opportunity to spend two weeks at Simla during the winter of 2005. Hence, I was able to visit each and every spot in Simla. The prospect hill at Simla is a beautiful tourist attraction.

Prospect hill is situated at around 3 miles away from the main town of Simla. It would be most pleasant to walk down up to this prospect hill from the town of Simla so as to enjoy the unique scenic beauty on the way. The entire route is full of lush green forests and one can view the snow cladded Himalayan Mountains in the background. We started from our hotel in Simla at around 3 pm and reached the base of the prospect hill by around 4 pm. We started to climb up the hill. There are some rough steps to climb and later on, the tourists will have to climb through the road having steep upward slope. It takes around forty minutes in all to climb this beautiful hill. As soon as you reach at the top of the Prospect hill, you start feeling cool breeze blowing. You can have a lovely aerial view of the town of Simla from the top of this hill. There is a famous temple of Kamnadevi here at the top of this Prospect Hill. This temple is very ancient and believed to be around 2000 years old. The statue of Goddess Kamnadevi, around four feet high and made of the black marble is installed here at this temple. If you visit this temple with any wish in your heart, it would be fulfilled very soon as per the belief of Hindu religion. The morning and evening arti rituals are worth attending at this temple. However, the most valuable reward of climbing up this Prospect Hill is to have a divine experience of watching sunset and moonrise from the top of this hill. The view of sunset is really marvelous as you can see the sun disappearing in the mountains in the form of a big red ball. These few moments between the sunset and the moon rise are really heart throbbing.

As soon as it gets dark, the second and more beautiful miracle of moon rise unfolds before your eyes. If it were a full moon night, view of moonrise is simply out of the world. One feels as if he has arrived in to the heaven. However, you need to select a clear day without clouds and rain to enjoy the most beautiful views from Prospect hill. The tourists enjoy the view of compete moon rise from this hill. The atmosphere at this time becomes simply spiritual and you will feel as if new energy has started flowing through your veins. We started our downward journey at around 9.30 pm after watching the full moon rise, and reached our hotel at around 11 pm in the night. the tourists must make sure to carry their own packed dinner and the mineral water bottles for enjoying on the hill while having a view of moonrise. Some of the tourists stay here for the night. However, there are no good hotels or restaurants at this Prospect hill. The tourists need to stay at the temple dharmshala after taking permission from the temple priest. In that case, you must have proper heavy woolen clothes, as it is extremely cold at night at the top of this Prospect hill.

Your trip to Simla cannot be considered complete till you visit Prospect hill and view the most spectacular views of sunset and moonrise from the top of this Prospect Hill. That will certainly be a high point of your trip to Simla.
