The Science of Getting Rich and Taking Action
Act Now! Time Sensitive! Limited Time! Are These Calls to Action Legitimate or Just Plain Trickery?
According to Wallace D Wattles and taught by Bob Proctor in The Science of Getting Rich Seminar, we need never act in haste. When we understand that the universe is abundant, that there is no lack, we understand that our business transactions, then we do not need to act hastily nor do we need to attempt to compel others to act in haste. This is a very difficult point to grasp since marketing is about compelling others to act - and sooner is better from our perspective! Rather than using tactics such as limited time offers, we can use the Law of Attraction to attract the people who need or want our products or services. I am not suggesting that it is never appropriate to put a time limit on a special offer. Simply that it should be legitimate. If the offer is not limited, do not lead others to believe it is.
As a consumer or an entrepreneur looking at a business opportunity, we may feel that fear of loss if we are hit with that limited time offer. Again, understand that there are times when such a claim is legitimate. For example, my partners and I are currently advertising for a limited number of people to participate in a specific project. There is a legitimate maximum placed on the number of participants, however... any number of applicants over that ceiling will not be turned away. They will simply have to wait. So, while there is some strategy - we want to fill those spots as quickly as possible - there is no emergency or need for anyone to make a decision before they are ready.
There was a news program on recently that was questioning the legitimacy of "The Secret" movie. The criticism was that the movie suggested that one need not take any action at all. They used the term "magical thinking" to describe this lack of action, stating that the sense given was that all one needs to do is think about what they want and those things will materialize before their eyes. Personally, I did not get that message, and that is certainly NOT the message in the book, The Science of Getting Rich. When one truly applies The Science, the action they take is inspired. What does that mean? It means that the action they take is one of the last steps - not the other way around. Action is a critical step in the creative process, but it is not the first step. The action you take should be a manifestation of your thought - of the vision that you hold. When it is, you seem to know that the step you are about to take is the right one. When there is heavy doubt, simply wait. Get clear.
This is not to suggest that when you are inspired to take action, you will have no doubt what-so-ever. When one is beginning to learn to use the Science of Getting Rich, there is an internal struggle going on. You may have years and years of conditioning to overcome. That conditioning has taught you to be skeptical and not to trust your instincts. There is no easy answer, but there is comfort in knowing that if we are struck with doubt or fear about taking a particular action, that there is no time limitation. There is no rush, no need to act in haste. If, by chance, you do allow your doubt to prevent you from taking inspired action, you are simply delaying the process - not preventing it. Another opportunity will arise, or the one you failed to act on will still be there next week when you are sure.
One of the most important skills you will acquire as you develop, is the ability to trust your own instincts. To recognize opportunities that are being provided to you for the manifestation of your vision. Understanding that there is never a need to rush or to act in haste, relieves some of that pressure, but it does not relieve you from the need to make decisions and to act on them.
In my next article, I'll discuss risk taking and the Science of Getting Rich. Taking risks is within the very definition of entrepreneur. Taking calculated risks can rapidly improve the ability to trust one's instincts.
