Another thing people do is declawing; I am here to say that I DO NOT recommend this. How would you like it if your mommy took you to the doctor and got your finger nails removed!? Not at all, I would suppose. Instead of declawing, there is a product out on the market called "Soft Claws". It is kind of like getting artifical nails glued on top of your nails. It is a cap that comes in different colors that you can easily glue onto your cat's claws.
One more option you have is to buy a deterent. Here's an example: http://www.bitterapple.com/. I originally bought the Bitter Apple spray for Zoe and found out she didn't seem to mind it. So, when I got little Milo whco wouln't stop jumping on my bed to chase my feet under the covers, I sprayed Grannick's Bitter Apple on my bed and he didn't go near it. (Luckily, he now sleeps quietly on top of my legs without attacking when I move them!) You can get deterent's in mostly all pet stores.
