When visiting the island of Oahu, a must visit spot you can't miss for the kids, is The Sea Life Park. For any of you that have seen the Adam Sandler flick 50 First Dates, that is the place that he worked at in the movie. Located between the Koolau Mountain Range and Makapuu Beach, this is THE place to take the kids for an outing. You can spend half the day at The Sea Life Park" and the other half of the day at the beach across the road.
There are a number of activities to participate in at The Sea Life Park. The one that I want to try the most, is the Dolphin Discovery Swim. You can pet and kiss the dolphins in shallow water on a platform, and then if you feel comfortable, you can move into deeper waters and literally swim with the dolphins. What could possibly top that experience? It DOES come at a price though. $125.99 per adult and $115.95 for children 4-12. I'm sure the experience is well worth it.
I changed my mind. THIS is what I want to do. The Dolphin Swim Adventures. After a brief orientation you can swim for half an hour with the dolphins. You can even pose for dolphin kiss pictures, and hold on for a belly ride. The entire time a trainer is instructing you on what you need to do to feel comfortable and get the dolphins attention. The price for this one is $170.78 for adults and $150.99 for kids 8-12.
Another interesting experience is called the Sea Trek. This is an underwater scuba walk where you wear scuba gear and walk around in a giant tank filled with coral reef, sea turtles, sting rays, eels and tons of colorful fishes. You also have the chance to feed these animals. The price for this adventure is $108.28 for adults. Currently, the price for children is not listed.
Some other activities include Swimming With The Sea Lions at a price of $113.49 for adults, $99.95 for kids 8-12, The Hawaiian Sting Ray Encounter, which is $45.78 for adults and $40.57 for kids 4-12.
There is now also a Dolphin Lu-Wow Package, which is $238.00 dollars per adult and $178.25 per child 8-12. This package includes swimming with the dolphins, as well as an all you can eat Luau buffet and review show that includes Polynesian dancing and fire eaters as well as a few songs.
Aside from all the activities to participate in, you can just go to The Sea Life Park and look at the animals and fish and watch the shows. There is a Dolphin Pirate Show, Sea Lion Feeding times and a number of other shows. The price to strictly just go and look and watch is $31.20 for adults and $24.95 per child 4-12. So come and visit The Sea Life Park. Swim with the dolphins, take in a show, grab a bite to eat and hit the beach. Aloha and Mahalo!
