Overall the show is successful and maintains a steady story line with the Winchester brothers and their father like role model Bobby seeking to destroy any evil that crosses their path. The stories are always different and based on myths, and actual fears that people have. The characters have essentially given up a normal life to fight for a balance of good and evil in the world. Sometimes they lose the battle but, they understand that the bigger picture involves multiple smaller battles before the actual war. It is for these reasons that this show is worth watching.
I think that on some level people can relate to the Winchester brothers. As people we make choices on a daily basis that impact those around us, we may not be fighting demons, but we all make a conscious choice to do the right thing. We also see a close bond between the brothers who find themselves struggling to stay close in a dangerous world that often forces them into situations and directions that they would rather not be forced into.
There is still the potential of all hell breaking loose on earth. We must now wonder if all of the seals will be broken by Lilith, and will Lucifer walk free among the world as we know it? I don't think that we will know until it's too late, but I think that there is a good chance that Lucifer will be making a guest appearance and going head to head with the Angels and the Winchester brothers. This will be the ultimate battle of wits and abilities by all involved. I also think that we will either see a new deal struck with one or both of the Winchesters or a side of Sam we have been waiting to see for a long time coming. Will Sam pull off some demonic moves to save the world, or will Dean use his experience from his service in hell to send Lucifer back home? Will the Winchester brothers be able to keep the apocalypse from coming?
With all of this underway in a tumultuous fight between good and evil there won't be much time for Dean to be looking for love. He may encounter another woman for a one night stand, but unlike Sam and Ruby, Dean is more of a free spirit and is too dedicated to the cause of fighting evil to be looking for love.
Ruby has a way of making Sam do things that he shouldn't necessarily be doing. Ruby, Sam's demon sidekick in the beginning of the 4th season had Sam using his powers to destroy demons and remove the demons from innocents. However Sam was forced to keep this secret from dean for fear of repercussions against him by Dean. Sam was right to fear his brother. When dean found out what Sam was up to he went crazy and warned him about the potential side effects due to the demon blood flowing in Sam's veins.
I think that with the already exciting previous seasons we have a lot to anticipate with the upcoming new season of Supernatural. Don't forget to watch the newest episode called "Numbers" on January 15, 2009. I have also included the link for the upcoming episode.
