The Seattle Seahawks: Best Players of the 2000's

A Decade of Seattle Seahawks

Bryan Mckinley
In the past decade, the Seahawks have five playoff appearances and have won the AFC West division four times. They were NFC Champions in the 2005-06 season, but fell to the Steelers in Super Bowl XL, 21-10. Out of all the players that wore a Seattle Seahawks jersey, these are the best five of the 2000's. (Only accomplishments and stats while playing for the Seattle Seahawks from 2000-2009 were considered.)

1. Walter Jones - There is only one player on the Seahawks that could overshadow Shaun Alexander, and Walter Jones is it. Jones is possibly the best offensive tackle in NFL history, so calling him the best player to wear a Seattle Seahawks jersey in the past ten years was a pretty simple decision. In the past decade, Walter Jones has been selected to go to the Pro Bowl eight times this decade.

2. Shaun Alexander - Do you remember Shaun Alexander? He is the Seahawks running back that was considered to be one of the top couple backs in the NFL, only a few years ago. Unfortunately, father time is cruel to NFL running backs, but during his prime Shaun Alexander was nearly unstoppable. In eight seasons with Seattle, Alexander had 9,429 yards rushing and 99 rushing touchdowns.

3. Matt Hasselbeck - In the 2000's, Matt Hasselbeck has passed for over 26,000 yards and 160 touchdowns. He has lead the Seahawks to five playoff appearances, including a Super Bowl loss to the Steelers that still has Seahawks' fans yelling foul. Hasselbeck has made the NFC Pro Bowl team three times in the past decade.

4. Darrell Jackson - From 2000-2006, Darrell Jackson was the Seattle Seahawks #1 wide receiver. In seven seasons, he had 441 receptions, over 6,200 yards and 47 touchdowns. He never put up more than 1,200 yards, but had four seasons with 950 or more yards receiving.

5. Lofa Tatupu - Tatupu has only been with the Seattle Seahawks for five seasons, but has already made three Pro Bowl appearances. He only got to play in five games in 2009, before he went down to a torn left pectoral muscle for the rest of the season, but has done enough in his short time with the Seahawks to become the leader of the Seahawks defense. He has 463 tackles, 7.5 tackles, 4 forced fumbles and 9 interceptions.
