Fat loss basically comes down to the principle of making sure your body is burning more calories in a day than you are consuming through food. This can be quite difficult given how many calories are in many of the foods served to us. If you look at a standard restaurant meal, most will leave you with at least 900 calories tacked onto your daily total. For a sedentary woman weighing 150 pounds, this is almost half of the requirements she needs! Additionally, if she is trying to lose weight, she will require even less! It is no wonder people have a hard time with the issue of fat loss.
An easy secret to remember to make fat loss a little more manageable is to reduce your portion sizes. That alone will go a long way towards managing your total caloric intake for the day. Order a half portion whenever you go out to eat or better yet, order an appetizer. Often these are big enough to stave of your hunger until you get home and can prepare something healthier. Another option would be to order a main entrée but share it with your guest. Not only will this help you to save money, but it will keep your body fat levels in check.
A second secret for making fat loss easier is to find little ways to become more active. Eating is only half the equation in this big picture. Since you are trying to burn more calories than you take in, the more you exercise, the more you can eat! Who doesn't love to hear that? Every little bit helps too. That extra flight of stairs, the walk to the mailbox, even getting off the couch to change the channel, they all add up. If you burn only one hundred extra calories a day, in a month you will have lost a pound. Just like that. Without any additional changes in your eating.
A third and final tip with regards to fat loss is to make sure you are not eating out of boredom. This is the most common mistake people make. They are watching TV - they eat, they are reading - they eat, they are visiting with friends - you guessed it, they eat again. Find ways to keep your mouth and hands busy when doing activities like this. Chew some sugar free gum, sip on some unsweetened tea or diet cola or take up cross-stitching while you are watching TV. All of these are calorie free ways to keep you busy.
Fat loss does not have to be a huge challenge. You just have to approach it with the right frame of mind and always keep an eye on how many calories you are taking in and burning. Remember that even though you want to lose that body fat immediately, the slower you do lose it, the more likely it is to stay off.
