The See Food Diet: See Food and Eat It?

Ward Tipton
There was a joke a long time ago about somebody being on a seafood diet. When asked to explain, they said "Whenever I see food I eat it!" Of course, it has a little more impact when spoken as there is very little difference between seafood and see-food when it is communicated verbally. What is not commonly known is that there is a very similar diet that is actually very healthy. However, it does not have as much to do with seeing food as it does with your hunger and physical cravings.

Nobody can realistically expect to lose weight when they are eating, quite literally, all of the food that they see. In fact, I doubt that there are very many people at all who could eat all of the food that they see unless they live in a very isolated manner or do not happen to see very much food at all through some other set of circumstances. Even somebody who wanted to gain weight and get in better shape or get stronger would not be able to succeed in such a manner. Still, there is at least a ring of truth to this as a diet plan and as a joke. Whether or not that is where the actual humor value stems from likely depends on your personal tastes and your sense of humor.

Whether you are attempting to lose weight or gain weight, you need to do it in a healthy manner. Moreover, you are going to need a wide variety of nutrients in order to supply your body with the proper types of energy and materials that it needs to continue functioning properly and keep you healthy. This becomes especially true if you are going to try to bulk up and get both bigger and stronger. Unfortunately, what you do not know, can (and often will) hurt you.

Have you ever been hard at work and craved something sweet? Maybe you were working and sweating a lot and you began craving something salty and full of simple carbohydrates? Did you know that the reason you were having those cravings was because in many instances, when you are working hard, your body uses more carbohydrates and when you are sweating, you lose salts and begin the process of dehydration.

The salts actually help to diminish the effects of the dehydration and help your body to retain more fluids. Many times, people will get a seemingly inexplicable craving for bananas. Oddly enough, bananas are rich in potassium; something that they share in common with many of those "energy" drinks on the market today. All-natural does not mean safe, and "healthy" foods are not always healthy in regards to what your body actually needs.

Take some time to get to know your body and learn how to listen to what it says. Chances are that you will get to know more about your needs than any doctor ever could. Learn how to consume what your body needs and it will convert more of the foods you eat into energy and less of it into fatty tissues. Perhaps the most important thing of all to remember when you are trying to lose weight or gain muscle mass, is that your body is going to be a truly unique piece of machinery and only you will really know what it needs.
