The Senate Blocks Passage of the Dream Act that Would Have Allowed Undocumented Youth the Chance to Go to College or Serve in the Military
In Doing This They Have Potentially Saved the Country for Now Since America Wants Our Borders Secured Before Any Attempt at Amnesty
The Dream Act is really nothing new. It has been around for roughly ten years and has had bi-partisan support. Sadly this bill is short on enforcement and very broad on amnesty with the potential for virtually any illegal alien to be given a stay from deportation at the discretion of the Department of Homeland Security. This is headed by former Arizona governor Janet Napolitano. In case you don't know Ms Napolitano seems to think the border is "more secure than ever'. I would like her, Obama or any liberal who votes for bill like this to tell the family of the Border Patrol agent who was just murdered that these people "Just want a better life" or the family of the Arizona rancher killed last year on his own property. Had the bill been narrower and had some enforcement in it then it might have had a shot at passing.
Various Latino groups such as The National Council of La Raza (the race in Spanish) are deeply upset that the rule of law is being followed and that we are not catering to interests of the Latino people and whims of foreign governments like Mexico were the majority of these illegal aliens are from based on country of origin. These groups have gone as far as bordering on threatening lawmakers who voted against the Dream Act talking about how they will remember who supported it and who did not. Well a couple things on this. First of all since amnesty for illegal immigrants seem so high on the priority of many Latinos and Latino lawmakers like Luis Gutierrez ( D-IL) seem to be one issue voters about despite the will of the majority of Americans. Gutierrez seems to think there is nothing wrong with breaking into the country and does not even think illegal aliens should be deported unless they commit a "serious crime". He also throws the family value card on breaking up families by deportation. This from a man who professes to be Catholic yet is about as pro-abortion as you can be. He even supports partial birth abortions. He and people like him don't care about the financial burdens that illegal invaders and their anchor babies cost the country (I included a video at the reference section at the end). There seems to be such a brazen sense of entitlement especially in the Latino community over amnesty for illegal invaders and the use of the resources of this country. I have a news flash. The United States is not the private welfare office of Latin America despite what many think. Many come here to have babies because of the welfare benefits that they will get. People argue this is not true, but it is. Many of these radical and anti-American groups also had paid phone banks to harass senators on this. I actually called one and it randomly would route you to a democrat or republican "target". I noticed that every democrat's office that was leaning towards the measure was very rude if you were out of state. I informed them that many were calling to support the dream act that were not residents of state and illegal aliens. I actually called a couple offices back and acted like I supported it and then it was ok that I was from out of state. Every Republican and democrats leaning no did not even ask where I was calling from and that should tell you something.
Many of the liberals trying to ram this through had pictures of people who are illegal and most were brought by their parents and did grow up here. Some had ultra high GPAs. The concern is that I am sure we all know that out of the two million that probably would have benefited from the bill there might be 10,000 students like that. I am sure there would be at least 200,000 that would ultimately end up burdens on the country further draining our social resources for people in need. They also would have been competing with legal citizens and immigrants for Jobs and college spaces. How could any senator tell an American vet that he can't get a job because they voted for the interest of foreign invaders? How can they do the same with a child who does not get into Harvard because an illegal invader got the space because of the Senator's vote? The economy is tough enough as it is without adding more people competing for jobs. I do feel sympathy for these young people, but I feel more for my fellow Americans. We can't handle all of the problems of every country out there. Our immigration laws are much more lenient for coming here legally than just about any other nation someone would want to go to.
The Democratic Party (of which I am a member but don't agree with them on many things) is basically trying to out Latino the republicans. Obama called on Latino's to "punish those who stand against them" in the 2010 mid-terms. Obama seems to forget that the rest of America would punish many who vote for amnesty bills like this. I know Latinos are the fastest growing demographic. No one wants to discuss the reasons for this. First is illegal immigration. The children of illegal aliens become citizens automatically (hopefully that will change) and voters and most vote Democrat since they support their lawbreaker parents. I am sure that a sizeable number of Latinos in this country as compared to any other racial group are the result of first or second generation lawbreakers and anchor babies. In other words mom or pop was illegal or grandma or grandpa decided to break into our country. When you combine that with the breeding habits of many of the illegal (and legal in some cases) immigrants you will see they breed similar to (readers choice) and it's a proven fact they have the highest birth rate by race in the country. I am all for someone having a family, but it is a point I think many illegal invaders and anchor babies figure have as many as the tax payer will support. Some other ethnic groups have what they can afford.
As I mentioned the senate vote was 55-41. There were three Republicans that supported the Dream act against the will of their constituents. Robert Bennett ( R-UT) lost during the primary and his soft stance on illegal immigration is a reason why. Senator Lugar ( D-IN) also voted for it. He told most that he would not support this version. I think he might have just bought himself a very strong primary challenge. Lisa "take my ball and go home" Murkowski ( R-AK) also voted for it. She will not face voters for another six years and probably figures they will forget. She had a really tough battle against Joe Miller and actually was defeated in the primary. Democrats who want to keep their jobs and care about America included Max Baucus ( D-MT), Jon Tester (D-MT), Kay Hagan (D-NC), Mark Pryor (D-AR) and Ben Nelson (D-NE). All of these Senators are from states that are not very friendly towards Obama and probably would lose in the next election with yes votes. They have yes votes on Obamacare to answer for as it is. Senator Joe Manchin ( D-WV) did not vote and is still a wild card on this. He ran almost as an anti-Obama democrat and this would not have allowed him to keep that distinction with the people of West Virginia.
There are some democrats that I was very surprised voted for this because of areas they are from do not like Obama or the idea of amnesty. Sherrod Brown ( D-OH) will be coming up for re-election and apparently did not get the memo on how disenfranchised Ohio is with democrats. He basically told all their unemployed that illegal aliens and their kids are more important than legal American citizens and residents of Ohio. Senator Bob Casey ( D-PA) is also a surprise. Pennsylvania went very blue this last election and Obamacare and the idea of amnesty is not very popular there. His family name is the only thing that could save him and the "black bounce" from Obama being on the ballot. Kent Conrad ( D-ND) has the same issues as many democrats from Middle America or the south in that Obama is not popular in region of the country or amnesty. He basically bucked the will of the people with his vote and will probably pay the price. Jim Webb ( D-VA) just barely won his last election and is in a state that has been very blue lately and is also a southern state. He has tried to play it both ways like voting for Obamacare but distancing himself from the president. I think he stands a great chance to lose and has disgraced the military uniform that he is so proud of. Mary Landrieu ( D-LA) has the same problem as Jim Webb but more extreme. She voted for Obamacare with a bribe in the form of the second Louisiana Purchase. Her vote here will not be forgotten by those in her state. Debbie Stabenow ( D-MI) also will have to face voters in a state that elected lots of republicans in 2010 and has the one of the top two highest unemployment rates in the nation. I can imagine her telling some lifelong democrat union member that she voted for the interest of illegal aliens over them and think they should have to compete with them for jobs and children of these illegal invaders will be competing with their sons and daughters for college financial aid and college spaces.
I have already touched on how Latinos seem to make amnesty a one issue vote. I am sure many would say "Heck with the country as long as uncle Pedro gets amnesty for breaking into the country". The sad thing is that the democrats are rallying against republicans over the failure of the dream act. They should remember with logical reason ( if possible) that the liberals had a bullet proof majority of 60 votes in the Senate and a huge majority in the House as well as an anti-enforcement President in Barack Hussein Obama. If the Democrats wanted to do it they would have and should have then when most of America was still in love with Obama. I personally was anti-Obama before it was cool, but must admit I did have high hopes for him. Another thing to recall is five democrats voted for America and only three republicans voted against America so more fault lies with the democrats. It really is amusing how the Latino community wants to "punish" people over this issue. All it does is make it look like they care more about race than the country to many non-Latinos. This is not all I have several Latino friends who are offended how they came here legally and others think it's ok to break the law.
God only knows what the future will hold, but for now America is a little safer than it would have been had the dream act passed. I don't like any amnesty but with a secure border I could support a very narrow amnesty for top students and people serving in the military. I do believe our new congress will be attacking this issue. Like I said I do have sympathy like any person would for these young people, but I believe anyone who voted for this has committed treason against the country. The President is so lax on enforcement that he has as well and should be impeached with his lawsuit of Arizona that once again is against the will of the American people. Now they don't want the border patrol to stop families coming through. No thought is given to the cost of them or the future anchor babies they will produce. I am sure many patriot agents will not stick to that rule as it is against the law to enter our country and eventually the cartels will use them to smuggle dope. Obama is a disgrace to our nation and my party. Maybe if we are lucky the majority of states will follow Arizona's lead on their SB1070 which majorities of over 60% of Americans support. If you count people who actually pay taxes it's a super majority. Please watch the videos below. They show many of the people that want amnesty have no loyalty to this country but to the third world cesspools they came from and view us basically as a welfare check. American students are asked not to display the American flag because it offends Latinos?
Thank you for reading.
