The Senses of Smell and Taste

I will always remember
how mother smelled,
fresh as blooming flowers
and clean as baby powder.
Oh, to have her near, once more.
There was something to her aroma
That always made me smile.

The smell and taste of things
remain poised in memories
for almost eternity. Why is that?
Or am I alone in memories?

Like the butterscotch pudding
I tried to cook, as a child
I burnt it and even today
when I try to eat anything
with that flavor, it taste burnt.
Will that taste ever go away?

Each of these things
Smells and tastes remain within me
as if they had souls, haunting me
reminding me of the past.
Will this ever pass I hope not
as I don't want to lose that
part of Mother that stays within me.

Smells, and tastes, and songs particularly get to me sometimes.
